Recover attachments

TG

Hallo,

I attached a txt-file to a task. After checking my account today I sadly recognized that this file is no longer attached to this task. I'm not sure if this is a problem caused by the user (me deleting the attachment) or a software bug. However is there a chance to recover my attachment?

Thanks!
Toby

Hi Tobias,

Unfortunately, there's no way to retrieve that anymore. Just curious, how many notes do you have on that task? When you count the actual note and the number of notes attached (number show in the notes icon), does it match up?

Clyde

Hi Clyde,

thanks for your reply!
I had two notes on that task. The first one was a plain text note. The second a txt-file.
Yes, I counted the remaining notes and it matches to the numer shown on the task (1 both).
To make matters worse the second note also disapeared in the meantime. To make But on my iPhone app the plain text note is still visible. Even when I refresh view.

Toby

Hello Toby,

Please try to log out, clear the browser's cache and if this won't help, go to Settings -> Backups and see if the information has been saved in the backup file of this project.

Best regards,
David

Hallo David,

I cleared the cache and after the next login the plain text note was visible again.
This problem is solved. As Clyde told me earlier the attachment is not recoverable. Even with the backup. Did I get this right?

Toby

Toby,

Not necessarily. If the attachment contains just an URL to the file, then within the backup, you should see this URL in the note of this task, assuming that the backup was created at the time it was there.

Best regards,
David

Hallo David,

thanks for your reply. I found a correlation between todoist firefox add-on and firefox private window. Problems with my notes occured only if I used a firefox private window with firefox 29.0.1.

Maybe that will help you to reproduce and fix that problem.

Toby

Hi Tobia,

Thank you for the additional info. Can you replicate the problem every time? If yes, what are the steps that I can follow so I can try to reproduces it myself and report it if needed.

Clyde
