Syncing between computers

E

I start my day planning in ToDoist at home in Chrome and when I get to my office I open up ToDoist in Chrome as well and the work I've done at home is not updated on my work computer. What am I doing wrong?

Hello Emmett,

Please make sure you're logging into the same account using the same method and that your work network doesn't block incoming forced updates that prevent the app from receiving them.

Also, do you power down your work computer or keep it running all the time or put it into sleep mode with the Todoist site opened? Does Ctrl+F5 on the Todoist site help?

Best regards,
David

I do not have a network at the office. As far as I can tell, todoist is not even loaded onto my computer. I saw the icon on the program list but I have been unable to open the program on my desktop computer. I uninstalled the program and an trying to reinstall it now. What platform should I list if I am using multiple platforms?

Hello Judith,

Please clarify - are you a part of Emmet's team or not and are just experiencing a similar issue?

If you're referring to the Windows app - it's possible that it was already running in the background and that's why you can't launch it anymore. The app adds a red TD icon to the system tray (bottom-right corner) from which you can restore it with a double-click or Ctrl+Alt+T. You can also right-click on this icon, go to Configurations and choose to quit the app upon closing and not hide to tray.

Best regards,
David

Hey David,

time Usually
running all the time or put it into sleep mode with the Todoist site
opened? Does Ctrl+F5 on the Todoist site help? I don't understand what this
will do

If I just Log out and log in at each site will that sync them?

Hi Emmet,

Even you logout and log in, it should just sync fine. Can you please try clearing the cache of both computers by going to Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data, search for "todoist" there (there's a search box in the top-right) and delete all Todoist-based entries that you'll see.

After which, observe if you get the same problem still.

Regards,

Clyde

Thanks,

Where do I go to find "Advanced Settings" at?

Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data, search
for "todoist" there (there's a search box in the top-right) and delete all
Todoist-based entries that you'll see.

Hi Emmet,

Please go to "Settings" and then click on "Show advanced settings...". That will give you the option to " Content Settings" and you can follow the instruction from there.

Clyde

Found it thanks... So... The best way to make sure I am using the most
current version for me between computers is to log out and log in at each
computer when I leave and arrive correct?

Hi Emmet,

Not really. Leaving it open or logging out of your account after each day shouldn't affect how the tasks are synced. Activities such as adding, deleting, and completing tasks among other things should be sync almost instantaneously (worse case maybe a couple of seconds). Please report back if clearing the cache helped or not.

Regards,

Clyde
