Hello Brett,

That's the correct behavior. The email isn't really "added' into Todoist in any way, you create a link to a message with a certain ID and clicking on it commands Outlook to search for this message and open it. If it's deleted, then it will never find it.

That said, the only other alternative would be to use the Premium option to email messages to Todoist. It would allow you to send the message to a certain address (unique for each project) and in that case, the whole message would convert into a task with a note. You could access the content of this message from anywhere.

Best regards,
David

David, as a follow up question....

If I delete the message in Outlook (but it sits in my Deleted Items folder) or I move the message to another folder, shouldn't the message ID link saved in Todoist still call up the original email? As you say, Outlook searches for the message based upon that ID and as long as the command being sent to Outlook has the search begin at the top level of the mailbox the location it was moved (deleted) to should be irrelevant. Ne c'est pas? (I've always wanted to use that line!!!) ;-)

Michael,

Its a bit complicated and it does not seem to always work the way it should. I do know that if its deleted it should not be able to find it. If you move the email to another folder, yes it should find it.

Brendon.

can we not have an option where when we click add email as text it puts the body into the notes, it is a major PITA that it doesn't do this !

Hello,

Thank you for your feedback, we'll keep that in mind for future updates :-)

For now, as an alternative, you could try to send this email to the project (without using "Add email as task") and this would convert the email's body into a note. Try it out by right-clicking on a project and choosing "Email tasks to this project".

David
