Sync issue - tasks with removed dates still show dates when logging on different computer

M

Sometimes I set a due date on a task, and later clear it out when I decide I don't want to set a specific due date for it. When I login to Todoist on a new computer (or even new browser on the same computer), I see tasks for which I'd previously removed (cleared out) due dates show up with the due dates they used to have. Usually these are tasks for which I'd cleared out the due dates days or even weeks ago, so it's not a sync delay issue. The tasks for which this happens vary based on the computer I login on. It seems that clearing out the date doesn't always sync correctly. It looks like a bug in Todoist. Please advise. Thank you.

Hello Maya,

Please tell me - on what platforms does it happen? You clear the date on mobile (Android or iOS) and it returns on Windows Chrome or Mac Safari or vice-versa? Please clarify what platforms/systems/browsers are involved in this and if clearing the cache or reinstalling the involved apps makes any difference.

Best regards,
David

This happens on the web only. The only other platform I use is Android, but it does not happen with Android. I keep a browser tab of Todoist open at home and one at work. Sometimes I'll update at home, sometimes at work. When I come to the other location (e.g. changed at home and later came to work, or vice versa), there are items that show with old dates that I'd cleared out at the other location. Clearing the cache does not solve the issue.

Also, yesterday I opened Todoist for the first time at a friend's house (who does not use Todoist and has never been to the Todoist website), and saw tasks for which I'd cleared out dates several weeks ago. There could not have been anything in the cache as no one has used Todoist on that computer previously, ever (I checked with her, and no one else uses her computer). These tasks do not show these old dates on my home or work computers.

One thing to note - I don't remember if I cleared out these dates via the Android app or the web, but I believe I've seen this issue with both scenarios. Regardless, I do know that the tasks for which I'd cleared out dates weeks ago have not shown up anywhere (home web, work web, Android app) since then, but they were there when I logged in on a new computer. Similarly, if I open Todoist right now in a browser that I never use, I see them there as well. Earlier this week, I saw the same thing but with different tasks.

The reason I see this happen a lot is I tend to set due dates of a certain day when I want to finish things, but for some non-critical things I sometimes end up running out of time and so then I clear out the date since I'm not sure when I'll get to them next.

I don't seem to have any other sync issues aside from this date issue.

If it would help, I can provide the text of the specific tasks that are doing this currently (I haven't re-cleared-out the dates in case you need to troubleshoot).

Maya,

If you would remove the date on Android then that would be something we're aware of - removing a date there will in fact not correctly sync this information, we're working on a fix for this bug now.

However, if this really happened between two computers and does not apply to any task from which you've removed a date via Android previously, then that's something different. That said, could you please try to reproduce this next time you get the chance? Maybe set up one test task with a date on one computer, remove its date from the other and don't interact with this task via Android at all?

One more thing - is any of these computers set to hibernate after some time, to the point where it also disconnects from the internet?

Best regards,
David

Thanks. Is there a way I can be notified when this is resolved (e.g. via this thread) for Android?

The computers never hibernate or disconnect from the Internet, so I don't think that is the issue.

I'll try to see if I see the issue again between different computers on the web only. I'll post here again if I can reproduce that.
