Add notification for task due date today

АК

I cannot add a notofication for the task for today without due time. Why? I am often moving tasks from today to tomorrow without adding any specific time. And when I want to get a notification, app says my notification is already outdated. Very critical issue for me. Wunderlist does allow this operation.

What is needed: option to add a notification at specific time for the today's task without due time.

Thank you!

Hi Александр,

Push notifications are considered as reminders which means you will need a due time to if you want to add one. With that said, we will look into improving this in the future. If you had a specific workflow mind regarding notifications, feel free to share them.

Regards,

Clyde

OK, thank you for your prompt reply!
But why I can add a notification for the task with no time due tomorrow? For today without time there absolutely no way. It is odd and not very unconvevient.

Hello Александр,

You can add reminders for any task even if it has no date at all, if you would use absolute reminders and not relative reminders.

A relative reminder is one that can be set to "30 minutes before deadline" or "2 hours before deadline", but will require that the task has a deadline.

An absolute reminder can be set to a specific date and time, even recurring dates so you can have a task due "today" and set an absolute reminder due "today at 16:30" for it.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,
Thank you! But I just tried it on Android and no success. It works on the web and Windows.

I mean, I cannot add notification "today at 16:30" for the task due today, on Android. The app gives an error "The notification cannot be outdated".

Please tell me - is your time zone set correctly both on the phone and in Todoist's settings and is it already pass 16:30 in your time zone?

Please try to use "today at 23:30" and let me know if it works.

Best regards,
David

My time zone is set to GMT+4.00 both in System settings and in App settings. No success still.

So, to clarify - you also had no success with today at 23:30, right?

So far I can't reproduce this, such dates are being correctly accepted with no error messages. Are you typing it in the exact form as mentioned here, letter by letter - in English on a phone set to English with the English version of Todoist?

Best regards,
David

Yes, I had no success with today at 23:30. I have Galaxy Note 2, Android
4.4.2, language (in the app and in Android) is set to Russian.

I'm sorry for asking all this, but to identify a bug, we need to know the exact circumstances in which it occurs.

That said, if you have Todoist and your phone set to Russian, please confirm if you're actually using the English date format "today at 23:30" or the Russian version, which you should use if the app and phone are set to Russian? Please post the Russian date format that you use.

Best regards,
David

OK, no problem. I am using Todoist in Russian, on Android in Russian. I am typing in the field date "сегодня в 23:30".
Thank you again!

And one notice: in app settings the time zone is set to Moskow, with no specific indication of GMT: "Time zone - Moskow". In Android settings there is following indication: "GMT +4.00 Moskow". We actually have winter time all year.

Александр,

I've tested it on a device with the same Android version as yours, set it to Russian, entered a due date "сегодня в 23:00" and it worked. The date has not changed.

That said, please try to use @ instead of в and see if it helps.

Best regards,
David

Thank you, David! I typed "@" instead of Russian "в" and it helps, I have finally created the notification!

Many thanks!
