notes disappear when added

SD

When I add a note, the content disappears. However, the notes count on my task is correct.

I am using Google Chrome with a single web session as a premium user.

Hi Stalin,

So within Chrome you are on our website version. You hover a task, click the note icon, and then type and click add?

If so, if you change views and go back, does it show up?

Brendon.

I see it as I type in the note. When I click Add Note, it momentarily appears in the Notes list then quickly disappears. When I return to the task view, the notes count has incremented. When I click on the notes icon I again see an empty notes section.

Please see my task "reference CM000413802".

Stalin,

Please try clearing the cache and offline data for Chrome. Settings --> Show Advanced Settings --> Content Settings --> All Cookies & Site Data --> Search for Todoist and remove all found.

Brendon.

The issue remains. I restarted Chrome after clearing the data.

Stalin,

Which Chrome version are you running and do you have any extensions installed? Try to disable them all and see if it continues.

Brendon.

Chrome Version 35.0.1916.153 m

The issue still persists after disabling all extensions.

Hi Stalin,

Is it happening for all notes and just a note for a particular task? Can you please try logging in Incognito Mode (CTRL+SHIFT+N) and see if you get the same problem there?

Please also try creating a new note and see if you're still getting problem. If you do, can you paste the note that you used here? There might be a syntax or a character that's triggering this to happen.

Regards,

Clyde

It's the same with Incognito Mode.

The issue is intermittent but sometimes happens more frequently. It occurs regardless of task.

My task below has 7 test notes however, none of them show when I open them.

Hi Stalin,

I'm having difficulty reproducing the issue. Are there any other information that you can share with us that might help us find a pattern? I can report this to our developers but without the right info, this might take a while to fix.

We had one report of notes disappearing before but that was totally replicable so a fix can be provided. I just tried your example you provided and it is working fine.

Clyde

I'm getting the same issue as described by Stalin, using Chrome version 35.0.1916.153 m. I successfully updated notes this morning and even on the same task with-in a project, but now when adding note 21 or above on a task, the notes are disappearing. I've noticed recently that Todoist in Chrome quite often reports an update is available (green settings icon) but doesn't appear to do much when I click on it. I've just tried Firefox v30.0 and this seems fine, showing the notes I've added to Chrome, but Chrome will not display anymore.

I've also noticed for this task in question (which has 21 notes), when clicking on notes (in Chrome), it displays the first note. Normally when you click on notes, it automatically displays the last note in the list (not the first one).

Hi Mike,

Please note that there's a known issue where if you add a dead/invalid URL (for example, an intranet URL), succeeding notes will disappear. Could this what's happening on your end? If not, then do you see a pattern as when those notes disappear?

Clyde

That could well be the issue, note 21 includes 2 URLs which currently do not resolve. This note will not display in Chrome (and any subsequent notes), but does in Firefox. Presumably if I remove the http element, it should just see it as text (and not a hyperlink and resolve the issue)?

That might be the issue, but updating the note and removing http:// hasn't resolved it in Chrome (even though it's just normal text now).

Hi Mike,

Once you have added the invalid/dead/intranet URL, you will get the same problem on the succeeding notes regardless of what you type of note you enter. However, removing "http://" should prevent the problem from occurring on newer notes.

As mentioned, we're working to find a fix for this. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Clyde
