Hi Viktor,

Please clarify, you use our Gmail plugin and add a email as a task. Then when you click on this task, the email link goes to a different email?

How many accounts are you signed into within Gmail? Do you have a Google account associated with Todoist? Please make sure that the one linked with your Todoist account is the first one signed into Gmail (the URL would look like u/0 instead of u/1)

Regards,
Brendon.

I do not why, but now it works OK. So, you can close this task. Thanks.

Hi,
I wanted to point out a weird behavior of the Gmail plugin. As you can see at the attached images, when I am using the default Gmail settings for viewing my mails the plugin is working ok, meaning I am allowed to add an e-mail as a task. But if I enable the Preview lab of the Gmail (which offer the ability to have a preview pane, similar to the majority of the mail programs) the ability to add an e-mail as a task is gone and the "Add website as a task" indication appears.
Thank you

Hello Dimitrios,

Thank you for your report. That's actually a known issue - it's caused by the fact that the Preview Pane extension changes the URL of the message when you open it and our app can not identify if and what email are you reading. We hope the developers of the Preview Pane will change this one day and leave the URL as it is without the pane - if they do that, it will start working on our end.

Best regards,
David

Thank you for your reply. I informed the creators of the Preview Pane Lab. Please allow me to tell you that the Any.do and Redbooth extension is working properly. So I believe there should be a way to be solved.
In any case, thank you again for your immediate reply.

Dimitrios,

Are these other apps using Google's API to directly access your emails or are they also entering the "raw" URL as it is?

Best regards,
David

As I can see, Any.do is storing the same link no matter if I am using preview pane or not, which is actually the link to the view as if I am not using the preview pane! By that I mean that the stored URL (by Any.do) is not the one appearing on the browser (while in the preview pane) but they can determine the "real" URL of the mail (which is the same when I am viewing the email without using the preview pane)
For example, when in preview pane, no matter which mail I have selected to "preview", the url I can see is the same (eg for my mails in the Inbox is https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox)
But when I press the appropriate any.do button that appears next to the "more" button, the link stored by Any.do is the same link I can see if viewing the email without the preview pane (eg something like https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox/146432982aa3ba7a)

Hope this helps

PS I also have to mention that when I am using the preview pane the "Add" button of the ToDoist is not appearing

Not having this work with preview pane will be a deal breaker for me unfortunately.

As suggested by the previous commenter, though I am unfamiliar with the specifics, there is likely a way to access the details of the viewed message without relying solely on the url.

Bumping question about using Gmail Preview Pane WITH Todoist Extension.
IMO, this pane is one of the must have productivity add-on for Gmail (for God's sake, almost every mail app has such functionality!). And Todoist is for productivity too. They are naturally fit each other. Inability of using both of these options is just frustrating.

I've read about the problem with Preview Pane mail's URL which doesn't includes message ID. But there is page's DOM which consists all info about loaded messages and currently selected message.
You product has very cool back- and front-end, your programmers are experienced and I just don't believe that this issue has no comparatively compact solution.

Thanks!

Hello Kirill,

Using it with the Preview Pane is working now, but only in Chrome.

Thank you for quick reply, David!

But how does it works? There is a workaround: if I open message in separate tab or window (by Ctrl/Shift+click) the "TD Add" button is visible. But in native Gmail + Preview Pane mode there is no button there.

Am I suffering from some other "bad" extendion or did I understand your statement incorrectly?

Kirill,

Wen you have the Preview Pane activated and click on an email, then you can open the Todoist window in the bottom-right corner and either enter a project and use "Add email as task' at the bottom or use the "Quick Add" option and you'll see "Add email as task" there as well.

Note - you will not see the "TD Add" button when the Preview Pane is active.

David
