morning notification count wrong and dashclock count wrong

J

I've noticed that the morning notification isn't always right. This morning it says I have 1 task over due and 0 tasks due today. Dashclock also reflects exactly this. In reaity I have 1 task over due and 8 task due today so my morning notification is wrong and so is the dashclock widget feed. Any idea why and how can I can fix it?

Hello Jimbo,

Please make sure that all time zones are correct - the one on your phone, any other devices you use Todoist on, as well as inside Todoist's settings.

Also, try to reinstall the app and see if it helps.

Best regards,
David

Time zones all the same so have to resort to a reinstall.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll post again once I know if this fixes or not

The reinstall seems to have resolved the issue

Correction, the reinstall hasn't resolved the problem. Again today I have
it saying I have 1 task overdue and none for today when I actually have
1overdue and 1 due today.

Jimbo,

Please tell me, what version of our app are you using now? We're publishing a new update today.

Best regards,
David

Jimbo,

That is the Android version, which app version? The latest should be 5.0.1.

Regards,
Brendon.

Also just today I've got the 5.0.1 update available. Yesterday there wasn't
an update for me to download.

Hi Jimbo,

Can you please confirm if the problem is still there even after updating to 5.0.1?

Clyde

I've setup a test reminder for tomorrow as currently I only have one
overdue task that i cant do at the mo and nothing else until sunday.

I've just checked the iPad version as I don't use that as frequently. The
app icon badge was also wrong on there showing only one task when it should
have been two.

Once I actually open the app it updates on that platform showing the
correct information.

I'll confirm on android tomorrow if problem resolved.

Hi,

The update hasn't resolved the problem. Its still telling me I have no task
today and one overdue. I have two tasks for today.

Hi Jimbo,

This is really weird as I just tested this on my Nexus 7 and it updates it almost instantaneously. Is your phone rooted somehow? Do you also have any app installed that manages your internet connection or any app killers?

Can you please do a little test for me? Here are the steps:

- make sure your phone is connected to the internet (wifi/3g/4g will do)
- go to the web and make some changes (eg. add a task that's due today)
- observe what happens to the number in Dashclock

Did it update? I'm wondering if there's some specific cases where it doesn't update it. This is the same test I did and as I have mentioned, it's working fine. Let me know how it goes.

Best Regards,

Clyde

Once I've opened the app and start using it for the day its fine. The Daily
Review is where its stopped telling me today's correct amount of tasks to
do. Also dashclock doesn't seem to update until I've opened and used the
app for the first time.

Hi Jimbo,

I have another test for you to try out. Can you kill the the Todoist app and make sure in not running in the background? Once you have done that, try to make a change in the web and see if it gets reflected in Dashclock. This allows as to confirm if the app does really need to be running for Dashclock to work properly.

Just to clarify, once you get the Daily Review, Dashclock stops working properly, correct?

We're getting close to the specific issue. I'll try what you have reported to me on my device and but I'd like for you test it as it seems that what's working for me might not be working for you. Thank you for your patience with this issue.

Regards,

Clyde

I'll give that a try when I get home. The daily review itself is giving the
wrong info too.

For example, today's daily review said 1 task overdue, 0 tasks for today.

On opening the app, I actually had 1 task over due and 2 tasks for today.

None of the tasks have a timed reminder, just set to be done today and the
over due one was Sunday.

If the problem reoccurs tomorrow I'll take screen shots however I have
completed the overdue task just for the purpose of checking it isn't a bug
relating to that.

Also to answer an earlier question, my device isn't rooted. Its nexus 5
32gb running KitKat 4.4.2 with latest version of nova launcher.

If you are unclear at all with the issue, I'd be happy to do a Skype call
with you at a time we can both do.

Done the web change and dashclock updated fine. Just seems to be in the
morning with the daily review that the review gives the wrong info and so
does dashclock until I open the app or tap on the dashclock Todoist hotspot
to open the app.

Hello Jimbo,

We believe we've founded the source of this issue (and the one with the review, that we've talked about via email) and it will be addressed in the next version of our app.

David

Sounds great, what version number will that be?

Just to update, without them over due task this morning, I didn't get a
daily review. I had 3 tasks scheduled for today however.

Jimbo,

The version number will most likely be bigger than 5.1. This is the beta we're testing, but it may or may not include the fix (it includes viewing of completed tasks on Android). We may still manage to add the fix before the final release of 5.1, but if not, it'll surely be in the next one.

Best regards,
David
