Bug: deleted date restored after a day or two

I've observed this several times with other tasks.

I had a task due on Sunday past but due to 3rd party was unable to complete. The task will need attention again but not at a definable date so I deleted the due date.

Today the task appeared as overdue in the chrome extension but with no date in the web app.

To confirm the task had not duplicated, I deleted in the chrome extension and it also deleted in the web app. (Great to have sync back!)

I'm not sure whether the date was ever removed from the chrome extension task.

Thanks

Hi Wez,

When you say 3rd party, do you mean you were using a third party app that syncs with Todoist? Which app was this? Sadly, many of these apps can cause issues such as this, and most of the time it seems to almost destroy tasks. Normally needing to be re-created.

If you re-create the task using our official apps/sites, can you reproduce this issue? You said you removed it from Chrome, so if you do this now (with the third party deleted and not being used) the task comes back again?

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon,

no 3rd party app, just item out of stock when I checked online that it was available before taking a drive!

I generated a task in inbox and it synced fine across platforms.

I've reproduced the issue as follows:

Task created in browser window (chrome) in a shared folder with date assigned (Friday this week) and assigned to me.
Delete date from task.
Date still there for Chrome extension but not in Android app.
Insert new date in browser and both Chrome extension and Android app update.
...

I could go on. Here's the summary:

Issue seems to be linked to the share folder/ task assign feature.
Remove date from web app updates to android but not chrome extension.
Remove date from chrome extension updates to android but not web app.
Remove date from android app updates neither.
Change date on any updates all.

Cheers,
Wez

Actually, it's not as simple as 'shared folder'. I just came across another one in a regular old folder. Date persisting in Chrome extension which I primarily use to add tasks (link to email/web etc) rather than manage/do.

Wez,

We had some major server issues yesterday, can you tell me if these are still occurring? Also, can you check to see if your Todoist.com's settings, your desktops settings and anywhere else you use Todoist are all set to the same timezone?

Regards,
Brendon.

I'm very aware of the problems earlier in the week.

This issue had occurred several times over the week or so prior. I just hadn't followed it up.

Time zones are consistent web/chrome/android.

The problem is still reproducable.

Wez,

To clarify,

When you delete the date, you are doing this from Chrome extension? I will pass this along and hope to find the cause soon.

Brendon.

Brendon,
no, I rarely use the chrome extension for anything other than entering tasks on the fly or creating email/webpage tasks.
In the instance above--seeking to reproduce--I began by deleting date in the web app.
Thanks,
Wez

Wez,

- I opened Todoist.com in Google Chrome.
- Opened a Project, clicked Add Task, created task with due date "friday"
- Task shows in Android App with date and all
- I remove date from the website version (chrome), it removes the date, so does Android.
- Checked Chrome Extension, updated as well.

Let me know if I did something wrong or if I am not understanding the issue. From the first post, that was the problem, that the web app would not change? Also, please try clearing the cache and offline data for Chrome, and see if it still occurs.

Regards,
Brendon.

Hey Brendon,
yes I usually find that tasks sync fine. The inbox example above behaved as your test.
I'll post again as the issue recurs.
Cheers,
Wez

Hey Brendon,
the issue seems to have been resolved by clearing cache/ offline data. Stepped out of sync today but a refresh of the chrome app brought back in line.
Thanks for your help,
Wez
