We are still working through our server and sync issues, we hope it won't be much longer.

Very sorry for all the trouble.

Brendon.

AH..seems like it is still going on. The online version is not syncing with my desktop (Off Line) version.

Thanks for your help

John,

The server issues are resolved. When you say Offline, do you mean the desktop version is offline? As then it will not sync changes, it needs to be online to grab new information.

Brendon.

The server issues are NOT resolved. I go back and forth between my work and home computers and every time I go to the other place, there are some things that sync properly and some that don't. It's getting very annoying and I'm losing confidence that I can trust Todoist to keep track of my to dos. Trust is the most important part of a to do list. Please solve this problem immediately. My patience with Todoist is wearing thin.

I'm sorry to sound so peeved, but it's tough when a service that I've loved and used for SO long suddenly loses its reliability. This is entirely unacceptable, and I hate the idea of having to go find another to do list manager. I love Todoist, but I won't stay around to be abused. :)

James,

Can you please start a new thread, detailing your system. OS, Outlook version, which apps/mobile devices you use.

As well as what exactly happens, we can try to resolve the issue then. As this thread was specifically related to the server issues we had.

Regards,
Brendon.

Hello Alex,

Can you please re-install our Android app? That seems to have addressed the issue for most users after the outage.

Best Regards,

Clyde

Brendon,

Please see the attached. I am on line. The sync message comes from the software that I access from my desktop as opposed to the one I access via the web. As you can see it clearly is not syncing.

I do not know if it is a server issue or what it is posted here because it was the thread where people are complaining about sync issues.

I am just looking for help

I am a new Premium member and I am trying to sync my Outlook To-Do list with my desktop ToDoist. Haven't even gotten to my iphone yet. Is there a tutorial, etc. that I can go to or can someone tell me how to sync.

Thanks!

Joy,

All that is needed is to sign into the same account in all locations. You can grab our Outlook plugin from Todoist.com/outlook.

We are on Youtube as DoistApps and Todoist.com/help

Brendon.

I have been updating the online (web) task list for a long time, and noticed that the iOS versions did not update properly - it kept the old info in the iOS...until suddenly yesterday it sync'd and now all the old information from the iOS is added back in to the web system...what to do? How do I know if new stuff is not deleted in my lists?

Clyde Romo staff

Hi Torkel,

The app does not delete anything unless they've been done so in the other platform, It is likely that your old tasks may have just been added on top of your new tasks. Unfortunately, there is isn't really a way to know this aside from doing a manual check. Try reviewing your new tasks and see if they still exist.

Clyde

Hi,

Thanks for your prompt reply, but how can I make sure that the iOS is in Sync and avoid this in the future? I went multiple times in the iOS prior to yesterday and nothing happened. New taks appears to be added, but old task that I had updated on the web was not showing as updated in the iOS...and now I am all set back to tons of old tasks that need to be ajusted again, many having been completed already online.
Thanks! Torkel

Hi Torkel,

I suggest you to try reinstalling the iOS app again. I've seen it worked with some users who had synced issues. Please let me know if the problem still persists afterward. If the problem is still there, please provide the following info:

- device model
- iOS version
- app version

Clyde

I have put loads of tsks into my todoist using the outlook plugin but they are not appearing on my online version (google chrome browser)

I don't want to uninstall the plugin or I may lose the whole list

Can you help me?

Just downloaded the todoist desktop app and same problem - all the tasks I recently added to the outlook plugin are not appearing on either the desktop app or the browser version

My main concern right now is that all my new outlook tasks aren't being recognized and at some point will be over-written - can you confirm this won't happen, and sort out the syncing issue?

Thanks

Another update...

Even when i click 'print page' within my outlook plugin, for a project - the print page preview only show outdated tasks - not as they appear in the plugin

Hello,

Please tell me - does clicking on the circular icon at the bottom (in the Outlook plugin) make any change? Does it sync the changes then? Do you see the pending sync animation at the bottom?

Also, can you add a new test task or a new project through the Outlook plugin and does it then sync everything else along with it?

David

Thanks for replying so fast

I clicked the circular icon at the bottom and nothing happened (a loading icon kept flashing) so I closed outlook and re-tired it, again nothing but the loading icon

However a few repeat attempts and it finally synced - hurrah!

Not sure what had gone wrong but glad to have been pointed to the circular icon - thanks very much

So still not syncing says JavaScript can sync and then will not shut down. Have uninstalled and re installed twice.

I am online and have the online version of Todoist open as I try to open Windows. Windows APP WILL NOT open

Hello John,

Please check in the system tray (bottom-right corner) if there is a red TD icon which would mean that the app is running (and that's why it won't launch again).

You can then show/hide it with Ctrl+Alt+T. You can also right-click on the TD icon in the tray and go to "Configurations" if you'd prefer to change this behavior to "quit upon closing" and not "hide to tray".

David

Hi David,

Let me try again. I went to open Todoist in windows (not browser) I got a pop up that said it can't sync some sort of java script error. to close I have to go via task manager.

When I open it up the icon in the Tray you speak of is visible. But prior to starting todoist from programs it is not visible

Thanks

John,

Please try to right-click on the tray icon and choose "Reload" and see if it helps. If not, go to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Todoist\Windows, delete the "Cache" folder there and then reload the app (right-click on tray icon -> quit, then launch it again).

David

Hi John,

Can you please confirm that you've tried clearing the cache and relaunching the app and it still doesn't work?

David is actually giving the steps to make sure that the app was fully closed. Simply pressing the "x" button does not kill app, it just minimizes it in the system tray. Quitting it from the system tray ensures that we're relaunching it properly.

So all,

here are the steps I have taken
1. I have quit the program and then tried to relaunch (I sent you the screen shot)
2. I uninstalled the program from windows and then re installed it same outcome

As far as clearing cache where when and how would I do that in todoist (it wont launch) in my browser (I may want some of these items)

Hi John,

To clear the cache of the Windows desktop app, you'll need go this directory: %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Todoist\Windows\Cache

Did the Windows app worked for you at one point? If it did, can you tell us the changes you made before you got this problem?

P.S. %userprofile% is the name of your computer.

I don't believe the App ever worked. (I came back to it in my never ending search to be organized) I asked this question back in May and got no answer.

Where do I find this profile. ?

I have gone to Windows Explorer and looked under the C director and Owner Directory I do not find APPData

I have tried typing in the name of my computer and the string above into the run box to no avail?

Hi John,

Can you please set the option to view hidden folders. Appdata is set to hidden and that might be the reason why you can't find it.

Thanks Clyde,

Found it. Now have Cache folder available and within that folders labled
Application Cache
Data Bases
GPU Cache
Local storage

Then a number of files
Cookies
Cookie Journal
data 0
data 1
data 2
...

Have to admit I don't know what to do here in order to clear cache It is not obvious to me.

I appreciate your help

Hi John,

You can just delete the whole cache folder as it's just going to be recreated once you relaunch the app. Keep us posted.
