Double Entries - Detailed Notes
Running iOS 7.1.1
Todoist 8.2.1 12103 (Premium)
I had a problem earlier with creating a new todo and then having a duplicate of it appear the next time I went back into the app. I figured the best thing to do would be to figure out how to reproduce it and then isolate everything I could.
Here is some pre-information:
*To do was created within a Level 1 Sub project (Don't know if that is significant)
*Project was not shared
*Cellular Only - No Wifi - Below average signal quality
*Had apps running in the background. Was able to reproduce regardless of other apps running or having them all closed.
1) Create new todo
2) Click done
3) Use top button on phone to put phone to sleep (without returning to home screen)
4) Wait at least 15 seconds, return and had a duplicate to do. If I came back say 5 seconds later instead of 15, the problem would not occur. Had to wait at least 10 seconds, usually around 15 seconds.
Was able to reproduce this about 8 times in a row, then it stopped. I finally narrowed it down to the following:
If it starts syncing before I put the phone to sleep by press top button on the phone, it would NOT create a double entry. (syncing denoted by spinning wheel in top bar of phone)
If it did not start syncing before I put the phone to sleep, I would get a duplicate if I waited 15 seconds and returned to the app. Sometimes the duplicate would not show up until I saw the sync wheel spinning at the top bar. I reproduced this 10 times in a row.
If I went to the home screen before putting app to sleep, it did not reoccur (But I am not 100% certain, as I had not discovered the sync timing). Only tested a couple times
It seems like if I waited say 1 minute before returning to the app, it wouldn't duplicate (but not 100% sure). Only tested a couple times.
I was also able to make this same thing occur with a note within a to do
If I sign out and sign back in, the duplicates all go away. If I visit todoist.com on my computer, non of the duplicates appear.
Hopefully this information will be somewhat helpful in coming up with a solution. If I had a way to do a screen record on my phone, I would provide that, but don't know how.
Love the service so far. Hope this bug can get resolved.
