Forwarded emails

Hi
When I forward emails from my inbox to todoist the text of the forwarded email is not showing up. Any attachments are fine, and if I added any other text into the body of the message but just not the original email text.

Michael

Hi Michael,

Is there anything unique about the email, or does this occur with any email you send? Does it occur when not sending attachments?

Regards,
Brendon.

It seems to happen with all emails and it does occur when not sending
attachments.

Michael,

What email client are you using or service? So far I have not been able to reproduce this issue.

Regards,
Brendon.

Michael,

Can you tell me if it happens if directly from the email provider, if that is Gmail, or exchange or other. As in, not user Thunderbird or Postbox. It may be a problem with them (they actually are built on the same engine).

It's a good sign that it does not occur on your Mac.

Brendon.

So email provider is gmail. From gmail on pc I forwarded to my todoist

Michael,

That is good news, at least that should help us find what is causing this. I will pass this along to the developers and hopefully we can resolve the issue.

Brendon.

Hi,
I'm still having the same problem. Whenever I forward an email to a project the body of the email does not show up as notes in todoist.

Michael,

Does the forwarded email have quotations within it? This is a known cause at least when referring to using Mac Mail, I believe it could be the same cause.

Brendon.

Well I just forwarded on your email (no quotes in it) and the text does
not appear.

Michael,

To be clear, the email that is going to Todoist is not quoting another email, as in in-line previous emails?

Brendon.

Well it is quoting another email (in line) but has no quote marks.

Michael,

That is making me think if it's not exactly the quoting, but maybe how the applications create the in-line replies.

If you turn this off (I believe most email clients can do this) and then send the email, does the same issue occur?

I will try to test this now as well.

Regards,
Brendon.

Ok, I found that setting and indeed when it is set to forward as
attachment and not inline it does show up correctly in todoist. (Point
of comparison - forwarding does work correctly in Thunderbird, inline
and attachment)

Michael,

Thank you. It would seem it depends on how the setting works for each email client. Hopefully we can find a fix for this.

Brendon.

I'm not seeing this in postbox.

Michael,

Do you mean, you can't find that setting to change in Postbox? It's possible it's not available, but it's built almost exactly the same as Thunderbird, so if we can resolve why Thunderbird does not work, the Postbox should come after.

Brendon.
