bug: all data disappears.

T

It happened randomly today that all my tasks disappeared - Todoist was acting as if I had just created my account.

Please see screenshots detailing my experience. http://imgur.com/a/hPF2A

Quitting the app, removing it from the "recent" list, and restarting solved the issue.

Hello Thomas,

Do you remember what the last action was before this happened? Did you add something to your list, went offline, installed the update - anything in particular that would seem related?

Best regards,
David

Hi,

There was no action - I just opened the app (while being offile)

I have been experiencing this issue regularly in the past few days.

Thomas,

To clarify, does it always happen if you open the app while you're offline or did it ever happen to you while you're online?

Also, please let me know what version of Android and our app are you using.

Best regards,
David

It happened to me at least 3 times today that all data disappeared from the Android app but was still there on my laptop. I'm using Android 4.4.2, Todoist 4.0.2. Each time, I was opening the app.

Thanks,
Rebecca

Rebecca,

Was this only when offline as well?

Hi Brendon,

I'm using a new Smartphone and am pretty new to the world of fancy smartphones - I don't know what it means to be offline on the phone. Can you explain?

Thanks,
Rebecca

Rebecca,

As in there was no connection to the internet at all, your phone service or WiFi was not on when you opened the app.

Regards,
Brendon.

Rebecca,

We will pass this information along but we are having trouble reproducing this issue. Full details about the device may help,. OS version, rooted or not, which device?

Regards,
Brendon.

It happened again this morning. I have an LG G2. OS? Android 4.4.2. Or
does OS mean something else? What does rooted mean?

I installed the update on Thursday, had no problems yesterday (though I was
at a conference & on the road so didn't use todoist that much). Just went
to open it before emailing to say the problem was gone, but it's back!

Hi,

So from your guys perspective, it's random? Can you think of anything at all that is different when the issue does happen? What do you do to get it working?

Regards,
Brendon.

This has been happening to me since I updated Todoist in early May.

There doesn't appear to be a pattern.

If I leave the app, and re-enter it, sometimes all my tasks will disappear. Doesn't matter if I'm online or offline, apparently.

Refreshing or relaunching the app fixes the issue.

Since Todoist service restoration today (?), I haven't been able to reproduce it.

Dave,

I will pass this along to the developers anyway, but without being able to reproduce it 100%, it becomes hard to fix.

Brendon.

Thanks Brendon - sadly I was able to reproduce the issue today, while I was on the subway (and offline).

If there's any details I can provide to help troubleshoot, let me know.

Hi,

When it happens, do you see a spinner (loading) or the No Tasks text on the screen? Also, though I know the answer as you say even just re-opening works, if you force close Todoist (through Android Settings, Applications) then re-open it, do they show up, and does it still occur?

Regards,
Brendon.

I logged out of the Todoist Android app, restarted my device, then re-opened Todoist. All seems to be well. (I've been good for the past week!) ^_^
