Ordering by priority within projects

K

Whenever I add a new item to one of my projects, the new item goes to the bottom of the list. If I want to move all my red-flagged items to the top of my project, the dark-blue flagged items next (etc. from rank 1 to rank 4), I have to manually move the items around. Can I set it up so that whenever I add a new item and flag it, it will automatically move to the bottom of the priority category into which it fits? So all #1s together first, all #2's together wnd, etc.? How do I do this? Thanks.

Hello Kara,

Unfortunately, you can't set it so that any new task will automatically go to a certain position (unless you right-click on an existing task and choose "Add task below" or "Add task above"), but you can use the sorting feature.

It can be accessed in 2 ways:

1. Click on the "Task actions" icon at the top (the pencil and wrench icon) and choose "Sort by priority" from the menu.

2. Click on the "p" key - which is a keyboard shortcut for priority sorting.

Best regards,
David

Clicking on the "p" key is so cool...just did it and it works great...very convenient. Do you guys put out any kind of booklet/guide with tips on getting the most out of Todoist? If not, you should. I'd even buy it if it's not free. Things like clicking on a "p" key to sort just aren't intuitively obvious things that todoist users would know. It makes me wonder what other tricks are out there I don't know about! Thanks, David. :-)

Kara,

We do have a help section available for free at: https://todoist.com/Help :-) It contains documentation on date formats, keyboard shortcuts, sharing, filtering, text formatting etc.
