Google Play Store says Todoist 30% off, out-of-date

T

The Todoist app info on Google Play Store says "Get Premium for 1 year with a 30% discount until 1PM GMT on Thursday! Make sure to check our premium screen." I looked on your website, Premium info, and there was no mention of this. I looked back at the app info and saw that this was posted on 6th May - so the cut-off date was LAST Thursday! I was very disappointed. Please update this info to avoid disappointed/misled customers.

Are there going to be any similar special offers in the near future?

Hi,

It's always a possibility, but we don't know of any exact times.

While on the subject of the Google Play advert - it says, for the Free version: "Preview media links and file attachments through inline thumbnails and file icons" and "See images, watch videos and play audio directly within the app". I haven't seen such features yet - is this really true? or are these Premium features??

Hi,

Can you attach an image of where you see this written?

Brendon.

I have taken a couple of screenshots, had to do this in Windows as taken from Internet Explorer because I am running your support page in Windows (I have Todoist in Android and Windows), but it is the same web page as you see in Google Play, covering the Android version. The lower part of the page, which is more important and has the words above, is attached with this comment...

Then the top part of the page, which identifies the source better...

It is exactly the same Google Play Store app page which has the out-of-date 30% offer that I began this thread with!

Hi,

Thanks for that. I think it has been written badly, as there is some minor support when sharing of tasks. If someone attaches a file, you can indeed see these files and images. Though of course you can't attach yourself if free.

I will let the team know and we will go over this.

Regards,
Brendon.

There is other text above and below the lines I mentioned above that you might like to review as well, I'm not sure if these things are all part of the Free version: "Integration with Dropbox and Google Drive for adding documents to your tasks", "Leverage amazing widgets, actionable notifications, Google Now and DashClock integration, and advanced settings" and "Add tasks from any app by sharing with the Todoist app". Some of this appears possible through email app integration, but I don't know enough about Todoist or even about other Android apps to know if this is all possible with the Free version - or even with the Premium version! By the way, did you mean you couldn't see my attachments? The support page gave me a "Browse..." option which allowed me to pick up the files one by one, with a filename displayed on this page!

Oh, I think I see what you mean now... you mean "attach file in Todoist" (as per the feature description), not "attach image via this Support page" so I guess you got my pics anyway!

I was referring to the phrase "you can't attach yourself if free". Clearly not possible in free Todoist version - but please check out the email that Todoist sent out about the new feature - I think this actually states you can attach files with both Free and Premium versions! I will check this now.

I have looked up the email on my Android tablet, and yes, it does say "Starting today, both Premium and freemium Todoist users can access task-related files on 13 platforms, including mobile devices, browsers, email inboxes, and more. Now you'll always have the files you need to complete a task. Anywhere, Any time. On time. Beautifully."

This email was headed: "Your tasks. Your files. Your way. Introducing new Todoist file sharing" and sent on 7 May from Todoist newsletter_emails+1@todoist.com.

Clearly this is not correct - or is it? Was there an intention of adding the file upload to the "freemium" version?? You can see why I originally thought the free version had the file feature!!!!

Hi,

The email is correct, again it has to do with sharing. Free users can indeed access task-related files on 13 platforms. They just can't attach and add new files themselves.

So again, it may not be written the best of ways, but it is indeed correct. We will look into improving our email and descriptions.

Regards,
Brendon.

At the bottom of the same email it says "For all users: * [with footnote saying that free users only in shared projects will be able to access the new Files feature] Upload files... Attach PDFs, spreadsheets, Word docs....(etc.)"
... with extra things including audio and thumbnails only for Premium users.

Our comments crossed! The email clearly says that "all"users (which we now know includes free users only when they are in shared projects - if the email is right about this) can access the new "Files feature" and actually *ADD* files such as PDFs etc., not just access the files.

So the email actually is incorrect.

"Add" as in "Attach" of course.
