Voice note

Tried to record voice note in the updated Todoist Mac app but get this error message:

Your browser does not seem to support HTML5 Audio recording :-(

I'm using the actual app rather than viewing in a browser. How can this not work?

Hi Martyn,

I have now reported this to our developer. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Clyde

I second this, it seems TD is using some code of the (default?) browser on a OS X system for adding the recording option.. Oh well, it's cool to (soon) be able to just sit in front of my Mac and work on sudden ideas for songs - book, record it and move on.
Keeping fingers crossed.
You guys are catching up with OmniFocus as well as the (discontinued) Catch app which I used extensivelly.
Now Catch is being retired from my main desktop screen on Android phone and Nexus 7.
Thank you!

And more than 500 tasks/ideas etc in OmniFocus are being moved over to Todoist as well. Takes time though, because this is a great opportunity to re-examine all the things annotated, making it a fresh and inspiring new start.

This behavior exists in the Todoist app on OSX as well as the chrome plug-in. However, you can still record voice notes directly from the website on Firefox & Chrome but NOT Safari.

Hi,

The issue is with Safari, which causes the issue with our Mac App, since it's the same engine. We are going to be updating it eventually to the Chrome engine, so this should get resolved then.

The issue with the Chrome extension is because Chrome does not allow file attachments within extensions and the voice is considered a file attachment.

Regards,
Brendon.

Karim,

You are using the website (Todoist.com) within Chrome and it is not working? As the other posts are referring to extensions and Safari which is not currently fixable.

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon,

I am referring to Chrome extension.

Please find the screenshot attached.

Thanks

Karim.

In that case, as I said, the Chrome extension is not supported, Google does not allow uploads.

Please tell me if it does not work in Chrome on the website version.

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon,

Would it be ever be fixed?

Will it work on Windows version (which itself uses browser within it)?

Thanks

Hello Karim,

Unfortunately, we don't know if this will be fixed as it's Chrome's limitation. It's not a bug on our end, we use the standard code for this, but Chrome simply doesn't support it through extensions. If they (Google) address this issue, then file attachments through extensions will start to work right-away without any changes on our end.

Feel free to try it out on the Windows version, though indeed, it's also using Chrome's engine.

Best regards,
David

Hello - I just tried it using the app on my Mac (OS X 10.9.2) (not web version of todoist) - and it says the same error for me. My default browser is Firefox - from the previous comments, it seems it *should* work?

Thanks!
Helen.

Helen,

The Mac App is also not fully supported, have you tried dragging a file instead of selecting it? Are you saying it does not work in Firefox?

Brendon.

Thanks Brendon - I didn't realize that the Mac app wasn't fully supported, so tried it in the web/Firefox version and it worked fine. Any plans for support of the Mac app in the future? (Considering it as a project management tool for our organization, but we are wholly a mac-shop :) ).

Thanks again!
Helen.

Hi Helen,

We have some plans for our Mac app that would probably address these limitations but it's too early to give out any details. If we have something ready to launch, we'll definitely let you know. ;-)

Best Regards,

Clyde

Bill,

So you are using our iOS app and its not working? What exactly happens. This issue was related to our OSX app.

Sorry, I am using both. The version on my iMac (Yosemite 10.10.1) is 6.0.3.

Hi Bill,

We unfortunately don't have any updates yet as to when we can support voice notes in the Mac app but according to our developer, we will look into supporting this.

Clyde
