Google Drive and Dropbox file attachment not working

G

I have started conversing with the Todoist Twitter account about my issues, but you've asked me to move it here. See the Twitter thread here: https://twitter.com/grantbuell/status/463668300719718401

To recap:

I am running Windows 7, Chrome Version 34.0.1847.131 m. I cannot use the Dropbox or Google Drive file attachment options in task notes. I see the text "Dropbox" and "Google Drive" when I go into task notes and click the upload button, but "Dropbox" is not clickable at all, and "Google Drive" is clickable but returns a pop-up with the following error message:

"400. That’s an error.

Error: origin_mismatch

Application: Todoist

You can email the developer of this application at: amix3k@gmail.com

origin=https://en.todoist.com

client_id=580128079484.apps.googleusercontent.com
authuser=0
That’s all we know."

I have deleted cookies and app data, logged out and logged back in, switched to Incognito mode, and even uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome completely, and none of it has fixed the problem. However, I logged into Todoist in Internet Explorer 11, and it DOES work in that browser!

Thanks in advance for the help.

Same problem here. Dropbox is simply not a link - it's just static text. Using Chrome on Windows 7.

Hello,

We're sorry to hear that, but unfortunately, we can't reproduce this issue :-( We're testing it in the same Chrome version you've mentioned and can't trigger a situation in which any file attachment option wouldn't work.

But thank you for posting the error report, I'll pass it to our devs and hopefully it will help us identify this issue and fix it.

Best regards,
David

David:

For the DropBox issue, here are the symptoms I am experiencing:

- The text "Dropbox" has no underline on hover.
- The mouse cursor does not change into the normal hyperlink icon (pointing finger) when hovering over the word "Dropbox" - it remains a normal arrow.
- The text "Computer" and "Google Drive" does underline on hover and the cursor changes as expected.

Michael,

Thank you for that, we are looking into this now.

Having the same issue as Michael but with the difference that the "Google Drive" link sometimes works and sometimes not.

The Dropbox link never works - it has no underlining and the mouse doesn't change. Clicking on Dropbox just opens the normal Computer file mode.

Using Chrome 34.0.1847.131 m. With FF it works normally.

The Dropbox link now works for me as well. Thanks! However, the Google Drive link still produces the same error screen as in my original post (with some different numbers).

Oh, and I should also mention that the title bar of the popup window with the error message says this:

"Error 400 (OAuth2 Error)!!1 - Google Chrome"

Hello Todoist,

I'm getting this message when I click on the Google Drive link when trying to attach a file:

"Drive support only works on the Web or on our mobile apps."

This is when I'm using the Chrome browser to access Todoist. Dropbox works fine.

Edwin

as of today - when I invoke Dropbox from the note attachments, I am sent to Dropbox in my web client (Safari), for log-on. But here my username/password is not accepted. The logon page either just disappears, or Dropbox gives me this error message in return:
"Error (403)
It seems you tried to do something we can't verify. Did you log into a different Dropbox account in a different window? Try clicking here to go back to the page you came from, or just go home.¨

As mentioned - Dropbox works fine in other apps, and in my OS in general. Log-in collects its credentials from the same source as the other Dropbox connections. (1password.), so there should be no typos or errors....

(Max os x 10.9.3 - Safari)

Did the issue with Google Drive ever get resolved? I am receiving the following error when trying to attach a file.

"Drive support only works on the Web or on our mobile apps."

Dropbox works properly. Please advise.

Thanks.

Hello Mark,

Yes, it should have been fixed by now. Please let me know where are you seeing this message - on the web? Through some of our plugins or extensions? It won't work in Chrome-based extensions.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Thanks for the quick response.

It is in fact the Chrome Plug-in. Out of curiosity, do you see that
becoming available any time soon? For the time being, I'll start using the
Web interface.

Thanks again.

Hi Mark,

We can't really tell when it will become available. Unfortunately, Google has restricted the ability to upload files for Chrome extension and until they change this, it wouldn't be possible.

Clyde

I'll tell ya this. I thought mine wasn't working, but it was just the popup blocker. Apparently it allows dropbox through but not Google Drive. I'm using chrome and the popup blocker is AdBlock Plus (ADP).

Works just fine after clicking on the blocker and allowing popus on this site.

Just kidding it was not ABP. It was the internal chrome popup blocker. Thats what pops up in the address bar when i blocks something i think. Weird that they blocked their own content. . .

Grrr... same issue here: Chrome extension, unable to attach file to a task note from GDrive.

The Dropbox & My Computer links work great (thank you for that!), but that almost makes it worse! Now I can see how lovely the function is... but the mass of files I would like to add to tasks are in GDrive, and thus unavailable.

Any suggestions for an alternative option? Are there other cloud storage options that would integrate that same way w/Todoist? I'd really like to maintain the distinction I've set up between Dropbox files (pictures/family/personal) and those currently in GDrive (work/reference).

Thank you!

Ann,

Those are the two options we have at this time. Hopefully the GDrive issues can be changed in the future.
