Unable to go directly to actual email by clicking on an email task

JO

I have created email tasks in todoist however when I click on them they do not bring me directly back to the email (which I have filed in a folder in my inbox). Is this normal that I need to go and find the email manually? Many thanks!

Hello Jennifer,

The linked email should be opened automatically if you click on the link to it in Todoist while using the Outlook plugin.

Please tell me:
- Are you clicking on them while using the Outlook plugin on the same computer?
- Are you using an Exchange server?
- Are you moving or archiving the message after you add it as a task?

Best regards,
David

Hi David, thanks for the message.

To answer your questions:

- I had installed the Outlook plugin on the same computer, so yes.
- Yes, using an Exchange server
- I add the task then move the email to a folder within my inbox (it seems indeed the issue is for emails that have been moved to a folder. I don't have the same issue for emails that are in the main inbox folder)

Many thanks for your help,
Jennifer

Jennifer,

Thank you for this information, I've passed it to our developers and we'll look into improving the search for moved emails so that the links ill work correctly.

Best regards,
David

David,

I am having the same issue. Previously when I double clicked on a task (in my outlook plugin) that was linked to an email it would search in my folders (archived folders in my outlook) and pull up the email. Today after I upgraded the outlook plugin that functionality seems to have disappeared. This is one of my favorite features since I can move things out of my inbox into a project folder but still have easy access to them if they require a follow up or response.

Thanks,
Dmitry

I am having the same issue as well. Huge loss of functionality. This alone is what set this app a part. Looking forward to a resolution.
Thanks,
Max

Hello! Just wondering if there was any resolution on this issue? Sorry to chase but I am enjoying ToDoist except for this little bug!
Thanks a lot!

Hi,

Sadly no progress has been made on this, but we are working hard to find the cause, hopefully it won't be much longer.

Regards,
Brendon.

Just to point out that I face the same issue. After moving mail to another folder, the "links" inside Todoist are "dead".

Thank you

Would like to add that this bug is affecting our users as well.

We have several employees who use the same premium account to manage tasks. They primarily use the Outlook plugin with locally hosted Exchange accounts.

2 of the users each have separate Exchange accounts and had been adding emails as tasks. These users have reported that they are unable to access open email tasks.

I have not had a chance to fully test the symptoms, but I would like to ask for clarification on the matter. I believe part of the issue is due to the bug mentioned above regarding emails moved from the original folder.

The other question is: Does Todoist support the ability to show User 1 an email stored in User 2's Exchange mailbox (if User 1's computer does not have User 2's account configured in Outlook)?

Hi,

No, it would simply not be possible. Each person would need access to the exact email account for the link to work.

Again, very sorry for all the trouble, it is being looked into.

Regards,
Brendon.
