Offline mode

PS

What is the current situation when working "offline" with Todoist? Is this supported?

I have been using Todoist for a weeks now and often offline for a short period of time - on the Underground, on the boats etc where I don't have wireless access to the Internet. However, on my recent holiday where I had no network access for days, the Todoist's home screen has gone blank on a couple of occasions as if there were no tasks and the interface was clearly waiting to refresh the tasks list from the server. Restarting the app or even to OS didn't help as I wasn't able to access my tasks even locally on my phone until I have connected to the Internet again.

It has really put me off Todoist as I rely on my task list wherever I go and it would be a major disadvantage if I wasn't able to use it offline.

Hi Pawel,

Sorry to hear that you're having problems with the Android app. The Android app should be fully capable of working without internet connection. Can you reproduce this issue reliably? If so, I'd like to get the steps to replicate it so we can report it to our developers.

Also, please can you provide me the following details:
1.) Android version number
2.) Todoist version number
3.) Any custom ROM installed?
4.) Any app killers?

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best Regards,

Clyde

I am using a vanilla Android 4.4.2 on Nexus 5 with no mods or app killers.

The installed Todoist is 3.1.3.

Hi Pawel,

Can you please update Todoist so you can use the latest version (3.2.3 )? This might explain this weird behaviour. We have not personally experience the problem you described but if it persist on the latest version of the Android app, please let us know. Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards,

Clyde

I will update this time, but I do not fully appreciate this approach.

What if I travel without network access, and I am not able to upgrade to the most recent version of Todosit and experience the issue again. Will you again refuse to investigate it further?

Also, more importantly, can you actually confirm that there was a bug or bugs that could be related to the issue I have experienced that would justify the upgrade in the first place?

Hello Pawel,

We're very sorry for the inconvenience, but if this issue persists only in the 3.1.3 version then there's nothing we can do about it other than fix it and release a new version. Whenever there's any issue on the back-end, we fix it right-away, but if it's on the side of the app, then the only way we can address any issue is through an update.

Best regards,
David

Pawel,

As for your second question - we can't reproduce this issue when testing it on version 3.2.3. We won't test it on 3.1.3 because even if we'd find it there, it would mean that it's fixed in 3.2.3, we can't re-release version 3.1.3 and even if we did, it will require an update. It's technically not possible for us to address an issue in the app without updating it in the process.

Please confirm if the issue persist for you in version 3.2.3 and we'll continue trying to reproduce, identify and fix it.

Best regards,
David
