Is there a way to set filters based on a person assigned to a task (other than me)?
E.g.Can I filter by assigned name such a John Jones?
You can filter by assigned tasks, using the :to_others: filter, but at the moment there is no way to filter by specific person. You could create label for their name, and that could work.
I did just that but it doesn't work. I created labels for each person on my shared project to be able to identify which tasks a specific person needs to complete but when I when to labels, the tasks didn't appear.
The tasks on the shared project have labels attached such as @person1 and when you click on that label or search for it, nothing appears?
Are you sure there are active tasks for each one?
I believe this is related to your other topic, so I will respond there.
Very similar issue. When I click on a label in the Labels list it does not show me all of the tasks associated with that particular label. Only some of them but not all of them. Am I doing something wrong? Same issue in Chrome and Firefox. In iOS the label shows the correct count of tasks for the label (just to the right of the label), but when you go to look at the tasks, none are present. In the above listed browsers, you do not even get the correct count.
Still playing around with the same issue. Seems like it may have something to do with whether a task is assigned to someone. The tasks that were showing up in response to clicking on a label (resulting in an "@label" search) would disappear from the label search after assigning to a team member. Yet, this is inconsistent as some label searches show tasks that are assigned to team members. ????
I agree with you Darius - seems redundant as well to assign to a team member and label the task with the team member's name. When you filter by a particular label, it does show up that way. :-S
But from my conversation with Todoist staff, I think that's the only option for now.
There are really 2 issues here:
(1) Labels are not working correctly for tasks that are assigned to a team member. So if I have 4 tasks that I assign to Joe and attach the label "sally" to each task, when I go to the Labels list and click on the "sally" label I will not see the tasks. If I go back and unassign the task, and then go back to the labels list they will show correctly under the "sally" label. Definitely a bug.
(2) You cannot create a filter based on tasks assigned to a particular team member. You can create a filter for tasks assigned to yourself and one assigned "to others" but that's it. This is a known issue and feature request. You could work around it with the use of labels but, as noted in (1) above, that does not work out so well.
The first point is not a bug. Todoist will always show you tasks that you are responsible for by default, not the ones that are already assigned to someone else. But you can still see other people's tasks either within any project or by including :all: in your queries, for example:
:all: & @work
:all: & 7 days
Where can I request that filter based on who an item is assigned to be added as a feature?
You just did :-) We read all suggestions and posts in every thread and keep notes of requested features.
I am hoping that the suggestion to filter tasks by assigned is implemented soon. Is there at least a way to change the color for the person assigned?
That is not possible at this time. We are considering such suggestions.
I use todoist in my company. And having over ten users I can't really track tasks for one specific user.
The suggested solution (using labels for this) is indeed redundant because why use task assignment AND labels.
Todoist is perfect for me personally. But it lacks so many basic features that are must have if you use it in a team environment.
I keep seeing you guys give answers like "there are no plans for this but please keep requesting".
Can you please blog about your release roadmap?
I am having this exact same problem. We are currently trialling Todist
premium for our team, which is time consuming but we hope worth it in the
I am finding that once I have assigned a task to one of my staff members the
only way I can filter it is to select tasks allocated to all others which
brings up all staff members and is not ideal.
The labels are fine at demarking who I have allocated tasks to so that I can
see a visual report on completed tasks after, but again, once a labelled
task is assigned to that person it disappears from my label filters.
The only other option is to go into each individual project but this is not
practical when we will soon have approx. 140 of them.
I would really appreciate ToDoist resolving this soon as otherwise it's a
good system. This really could determine whether we continue using Todoist
beyond the trial.
Same problem here. I need to track tasks by employee, this seems to be a basic function of any to do list. Please make this a priority for future updates.
Funny that I have the same requirement and that it is popping up here and in other threads. This and a Windows Phone app are my top requests.
Also is there a way you can filter in the Karma reports, to show completed tasks which have been allocated to others ?
Unfortunately, that's not possible right now, but we'll look into improving the "View All Completed" section and add team-based data and statistics.
If I have assigned tasks to two people in my projects and I want to review those tasks I can go to the "assign to other" filter.
But this list has both persons task in one list and is not practical or useful at all.
I need to filter one person at a time. Is it not possible to create a filter for the one person?
This is a very important and fundamental part of any task management system. The ability to filter by person is perhaps is very important. If it not available I need to assign and task to them and then assign a label to them. Very wasteful in terms of time and effort and it complicates my system
Yes, definitely need the ability to filter by person assigned.
Th ability to filter tasks by individual is absolutely essential. Please confirm if and when this feature will arrive.
I would also like to be able to filter based on individual the task is assigned to, and by project. I think the current filtering abilities are currently not enough for enabling a good analysis on todo-lists.
Why not enabling filters something like #ProjectA & :to somebody3:
currently trying your product for my business. every function so far that i am trying to perform it turns out that todoist is not capable or struggles with. i too would need the above function adding to make this work for my business. Will give it another 30 days trial but you guys really need to communicate what function you are currently working on and rough timeframes, otherwise your customer base is just going to leave you for omnifocus and 2do. If you are planning on implementing ideas and suggestions from customers at least tell us so we know wether on not it is worth hanging on to your product, if we don't know what you are doing then whats the point in continuing with a product if i don't know if it will eventually work to my requirements.
Can we please have this feature guys. I am now using Todoist now for couple of months. It works great when I just use if for myself, but in a team environment when I need to see what's assigned to whom, there seems to be no ways (apart from adding a label, but that would be an additional (unwanted) step)
Really look forward to this feature addition.
Yes I really need this feature. It is possible in Wrike and Asana which is what we are also trying. I like ToDoist appart from this main lack.
Also while we are at it. I'd like to request a fix to the confusing issue of how tasks and sub-tasks appear on your Today list.
There is a task called "A". It's not delegated
There is a sub task called "a1". It's a sub-task of A and delegated to myself
In "Today" BOTH tasks are listed as needing doing. With lots of tasks and subtasks this is VERY cluttered. At least have an option for turning on or off this behaviour.
I'd like to see a list of how ToDoist are ranking feature requests. Next to each should be a score of how many people are requesting it. Next to that column should be a date for when we hope to have a release with that feature / bug/fix. It all looks like no body is listening
