Hi Keith,

Did you originally be able to open it, when you first installed? As our app sits in the system tray (beside the clock) and from there (the TD icon) you can close or open Todoist.

Brendon.

I think I have the same problem - Windows 7. I love ToDoist and have been using for about a month...starting to get the hang of it. I mostly use it on my laptop, but really like the mobile sync functionality (Android)...that's why I'm using it.

When I close ToDoist on my laptop, the app (icon) disappears from the system tray (as it should). Unfortunately, I can't re-open the app by double-clicking on the desktop (shortcut) icon. The way I'm using it at the moment is by internet login via Firefox (not very convenient).

Suggestions?

Hello Mark,

Please confirm, when you say system tray, do you mean under the arrow in the bottom-right corner of your system, next to the clock?

If so, please right-click on this icon when it's there, go to "Configurations" and please tell me what's your setting for "Close behavior" - hide to tray or quit?

Best regards,
David

David,

Close behavior is "Minimize to Notifications Area". The only other option is "Close".

Thanks,
Mark

Mark,

In that case, the app has to remain in the system tray when you use the "X" icon. Are you certain that it's not there (it can be hidden under the "up arrow" icon in the tray where you can find more icons)?

If it is, then you can restore the app either by double-clicking on the TD icon in the notification area (bottom-right) or using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+T as it wouldn't launch when it's already running in the tray.

If it really is disappearing from there when you close it even with this setting, can you see Todoist on Windows' Task Manager list (right-click on the task bar -> Task Manager)?

Best regards,
David

David,

To answer you first question...Yes, the TD icon is currently hidden, but I can make it visible in the lower-right area next to the clock.

Thanks,
Mark

David,

Just saw your reply (above). Duh! I clicked on the icon (previously hidden) and it immediately appeared. Apparently, it was already running in the tray.

This fixed the problem and answers my question.

Thank you,

Mark

David

I have a similar problem. I can launch Todoist from the tray but not from the desktop icon. I use Windows and Firefox.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

You can change this behaviour by right clicking on the icon you see in the System Tray and changing it "Configuration". The default behaviour of the app is to minimize it in the System Tray rather than fully closing the app.
