Subtasks, filters and completed subtasks

RW

I noticed subtasks do not show up in my filtered lists that use labels. Also a complete subtask continues to show up in my lists, shown as crossed out, have to manually delete them for them to go away.

Hi Ryan,

> I noticed subtasks do not show up in my filtered lists that use labels.
Can you provide me a specific example? Please note that if you attach labels on parents tasks, sub-tasks will not show up in the filtered lists if it does not have the label attached to it as well.

Yes, this is by design. This allows you keep to track of which tasks that have been completed already that is part of a larger tasks. The only way to get rid of those tasks is by deleting them (as you mentioned) or completing the topmost level task.

It looks like the subtask is there its just not getting "counted" in the Filter list. For example I added a subtask with a "next action" label. I have a filter that sorts of all my labeled task such as "next action" "waiting" etc. That list shows 10 total tasks in the sidebar menu. In actuality there are 11 tasks showing as next action. Not a huge deal. I regularly compare the number of tasks in my "view all" filter against my "sort by action" list to make sure I have tagged all tasks properly. Hope that makes sense.

Also its would be wonderful if I could get the the task "count" in the web and outlook versions. Its a nice feature.

Hi Ryan,

Please note that tasks that are assigned to somebody else will not count as your label. For example, if I label a task "next action" and assign it to somebody else in shared project, it will not add in your tasks under the "Filters" tab. This is the most common reason why you'd see discrepancies between the count and actual tasks. Let me know if this is not the case.

As for the task count, projects and labels already have task count shown in them. This should be accessible both in the web and Outlook plug-in. Are you referring to something else?

Clyde, I dont see counts on the filter tab on the web or outlook, but do on Android app. Also I don't share tasks.

Hi Ryan,

Yes, you are right. The filters tab don't have any counts in them yet. For the meantime, you can vote for that functionality in here https://todoist.com/Vote/show/8248/.

As for the discrepancy of your task counts. Do you have specific examples where you can take screenshots? You can send it to me at clyde@doist.io.

I will send a screen shot if I can figure our how to do that from the android, since i can replicate the issue via web browser and no counts.

Clyde. Nevermind. I just tested the task counts again and its working. I had the subtask marked as completed, so even though its showing (as crossed out) the count accurately reflected this action.

I voted for the filter task counts but since you already have this on android I assume this will happen anyway for consistancy across the platform...wink wink
