Hi Brunswick,

Yes, you do have to share a project in order to assign tasks to somebody.

Even if you're assigning the task to yourself?

Hi Brunswick,

The short answer is yes. If projects are not shared, though there are exceptions for this, most of the tasks by default is "assigned to you". In most cases, there's no need for you to assign it to yourself if you're not collaborating with somebody for that project in Todoist.

Can you please tell me why you want to assign tasks to yourself? What are you trying to do? There might be a better way of doing that.

Please let me know.

Regards,

Clyde

Just wanting to use the "tasks assigned to me" filter. I'm the only one assigning tasks to myself or others.

Hi Brunswick,

I think the labels feature would be a great alternative for this job. Certainly, it would be way faster to enter than assigning it to yourself. Some suggestions:

@brunswick
@tasks_for_me
@assigned_to_me

Labels can be used as filters as well. For more details, you can refer to this link https://todoist.com/Help/Labels
