Add File

JD

I can't seem to add a file
I click on add note, then add file, drag a document into the space, click upload file- it shows a tick, then exit but it does not add to the task?

Hi John,

Can you please check what version of Todoist you are using? The latest version should be 4.1.5. If you're not on that version, please do an update an see if that fixes the issue. Also, did this work for you before and just suddenly stopped working?

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Clyde

John,

The MacApp has always been able to upload by dragging into the box, but clicking the "select' files link does not. So to confirm, you are dragging and dropping?

I am not able to reproduce this issue. When you drag the file, it does nothing, you click Upload, it uploads and then once completed, you are back to the Notes adding area, click Add Note, then it's added. Are you saying once you close this window, and re-open, it attachement is not there?

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendan
Yes, nothing attaches.

The process I use:

Click notes icon which appears when I hover over task
That opens Notes window
I click icon under "Note content" to attach files, docs or images
Upload files window opens
I drag a word file into the box and the file name appears in the box
I click "upload files" and it appears to upload and a tick appears next to
the file name, and it shows "100%"
I close the upload window and click "Add Note".
Then I close Note window, task has nothing attached.

John

John,

Yea, It should auto close the window, and bring you to the step of "Add Note", and not have you close it. How long are you waiting there, before you close it?

Regards,
Brendon.

I let the upload file box sit there with a small document (15kb) after I
click upload file for 5 mins plus, but does not auto close

John,

Unfortunately, I have not been able to reproduce this issue. If there is anything else you can tell me about your system, such as browser extension (Safari, as the App uses this) or similar.

Does this occur in browser, such as Chrome?

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendan
It works if I just open Todolist from the icon in Finder, but does not work
when I have Todolist open in Gmail in Chrome browser

John,

Please confirm, the original issue was with the MacApp, and you just said that it works with that now? Or are you saying, depending on how you open it, it works?

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendan
Yes, my issue has always been with todolist within Chrome, as I have the gmail plugin, and I use it while in gmail.
If I just try to add a file by opening todolist from the dock on the Mac it works fine.
However the same process of file add does not work in the gmail addon (as I described above)

Thanks
John

John,

That would now make sense. Sorry for the misunderstanding, as I was under the impression the issue was with Chrome and or MacApp.

Since the Gmail plugin is a Chrome extension, uploading within Chrome extensions are not allowed at this time. This is true for all extensions on Chrome.

Regards,
Brendon.

Thanks Brendan- that clears it up
I can still add a file, I just need to do it outside of gmail
