iCal calendar sync - alerts keep returning after dismissal

Hi, am using iCal with OSX 10.9.2 . When I get a task alerts, I close it, however, the alert reappears some minutes later. It seems to be acting as "snooze" rather than "close". Normal reminders created in iCal don't work in this way - once "closed" the alert is dismissed.

Doing a "Get Info" on the calendar subscription, it appears to be defined in the same way as other subscriptions which don't have this problem.

Hi Adam,

Did you import the ICS file into the software, or did you enter a new subscription using the iCal Feed URL?

We have a few reports of this issue but have yet been able to figure out what is causing it and how to resolve it. Most of the time, people have to remove the entire calender, to get rid of it, or disable notifications in total (which obviously is not good).

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon, I created a new subscription using the iCal Feed URL. I've realised that the alerts appear when the feed is auto-refreshed (I set my feed in the Get Info section to 15 minutes to try this) or when the feed is manually refreshed. None of my other calendar subscriptions seem to do this. For example UK Holidays (http://ical.mac.com/ical/UK32Holidays.ics) which defines calendar events on specific dates like ToDoIst doesn't alert on refresh, it just places the event in the calendar.

Again on the Get Info section if I set the "Ignore Alerts" off then (perhaps obviously !) the alerts don't come for that subscription only which I'll use for the time being rather than switch off alerts totally. Hope that helps ! Adam.

Any update on this issue? I'm getting the same thing and it's gotten annoying enough I had to Google the issue. :) Not sure if this is a Todoist issue or something with the Mac calendar app.

Ryan,

We haven't been able to find out what causes this. As these reports are only when using the Mac Calender app.

Brendon.

Hi,

Yes of course, you can copy the URL from the settings page (top right corner) into Google Calender on the left hand menu.

Brendon.

Brendon, thanks for quick reply. Please can you expand on what you mean by 'left hand menu'. I don't see anything immediately obvious in my google calendar? Would appreciate help - maybe a screen shot? Cheers.
