mail from multiple gmail accounts - misdirecting

A

going to try and explain this as simply as I can...

I add tasks from two different gmail accounts to the same todoist account

when I go back later and click on them, sometimes the links open in the wrong account.

is there a better way to do this or a way to ensure this doesn't keep happening??

thanks!

steve

Hi AskStevek,

What browser are you using? Are you logged in to both gmail accounts in that browser?

Please let me know so I can assist you further. :-)

Thanks,

Clyde

I've had this problem, and it appears to be a gmail issue, not a Todoist issue. However, you can solve it if you ALWAYS open your gmail accounts in the same order. The first account you open will be account "0", and the URLs to specific messages in that account will include "/0/" somewhere buried inside the URL. The next account will be "1", etc. If you are using gmail+todoist together, the URLs you generate to reference gmail items will contain that information. If you log out of gmail and login again in a different order, they won't work. If you have logged in multiple times and created multiple gmail entries with different orders, well, that's a problem since todoist doesn't let you edit the URLs of gmail entries.

The problem is exacerbated because only the FIRST gmail account you log into gives you access to google drive. So if you use google drive from more than one google account, you are kind of hosed.

It took me a while to address this, with help from the todoist staff. The result has affected my workflow. As far as I can tell, if you have multiple accounts AND use google drive from more than one of them, the only bulletproof method is to use separate browsers. I always use gmail+todoist from Chrome, and always with my work email as the first one. I still log into multiple gmail accounts, but they are in the same order. If I need to use google drive for my personal gmail account, I use Firefox.
