Repeating Tasks

L

I have a to do task I set for every weekday.
It shows the name of the "To do" with a little circle with arrows
It does not show it for each day as I scan ahead.
It does show it twice on one day each time I try to set it up in the program as a repeating task.
Thank you

Hello Louis,

Please clarify - what issue are you experiencing with this task exactly? A recurring task will only be displayed as due for its next occurrence until you check it off or postpone it, in which case it will move its date to the next occurrence.

What's the due date of this task? The correct one would be "every weekday".

Best regards,
David

Yes it is set for every weekday.
Are you saying that it will only show up on one day at a time and not be in
the list for example the next 7 days.
So, if it shows for today. Tuesday, I won't see it for Wednesday until
tomorrow?
Also, it lists twice a day. I'm not sure how to better explain.

Louis,

Yes, if the task is due today, it will stay today. If you don't complete it today, you will see it as "Overdue - yesterday" tomorrow.

As for listing twice a day - is it possible that it's a sub-task? If so, if the parent task is also due today, then you'll see the sub-task separately, but also as a reference if you expand the parent task containing it.

David

We're talking different things.
Why, when I look ahead, does it NOT show up as a task for each week day when
that is how I designated it.

Louis,

Because it would very quickly clutter up your task list to the point that you wouldn't recognize an important task due in a few days if it would be between 40 daily tasks that repeat each day.

It's a design choice, a recurring task doesn't multiply itself for every day, but it reschedules itself when you take action. You don't miss anything important, you see if it's overdue, you don't have com complete missed events of it, delete missed events to "clean up" the list of missed overdue instances etc.

You're welcome to request a change to this behavior in our Votebox, though: https://todoist.com/Vote/
