Outlook add-in will not install stuck on downloading (VSTO)?

DB

I try to install the outlook Todoist.adx and a pop up tells me basically, i think, that my system needs to download this (VSTO) thing before it can install the application. When i say i want to do this i get two progress bars that never show progress. What to do? I really like this app on my mac and iphone but since work is forcing me to use outlook, integration with it is paramount (and available almost nowhere else). I will become full member once i can get this to work...or is that the problem?

Hi Daniel,

Are you downloading the installer from our main website? As in, you are installing the latest version?

Please download and install this file, as this is what it's looking for. Once that is done, does the installer work? http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=40790

Regards
Brendon.

Daniel,

So it's loaded in Outlook, shows the login page and it does not log in, gives an error, does nothing at all?

If you want to remove Google from your account sign into your account on the web, top right corner gear icon, Account. From there you can disconnect Google from your account, assuming you have a password/email combo attached to your account already.

Regards,
Brendon.

I am also having a similar issue, however when I tried your link (@Brendon Wadey) it brought me to a page telling me that the download was no longer available. Is there an alternative?

Hello Richard,

Yes, there's a new VSTO release from April 2014, it's this one: http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/download/details.aspx?id=42513

Hello Steve,

Microsoft changed it again. This is the new link working at the time I'm posting this :-) http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=23656

Thanks, David.

I have a new problem... Video Studio runtime is installed correctly on my machine. However, when I run the Todoist installer, it keeps telling me I have to install the vstor file. When I say yes, it tries to do so and I get a message saying I need to install the dependency still. The installer is not recognising the Video Studio runtime as already installed.

Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve,

Which version of Outlook are you using? Can you please try rebooting your computer to see if that will help?

Regards,

Clyde

Hi Clyde

Thanks for getting back to me.

Using Outlook 2010.

I’ve rebooted a number of times.. doesn’t make any difference.

Steve,

Please try to install this Service Pack: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=1132 and also make sure that .NET Framework is installed on your computer.

Hi David

Thanks… but this still did not work. I have the latest version of the .NET framework installed.

I’m beginning to wonder whether it is something to do with the way my work machine is set up…

Steve

Steve,

I'm sorry to hear that :-( I'm unsure what else could cause this, could you please try to contact your system administrator at work to make sure that they haven't disabled the option to install such plugins?

David

Thanks, David. Other plugins work no problem.  I'll follow up with my system people. Desktop version works fine so that's adequate for my needs along with emailing in tasks. Cheers Steve
