Zapier to Todoist - parsing date from a Google Calendar entry using "Event Begins" as Date

MM

Hi,

I'm trying to create a new Task in Todoist based on a new Calendar event using the new Zapier integration.

I can get a reminder created correctly by using <remind {{Event Begins}}> in the Task's subject.

A task needs also a date as well, right? So I can't get the task's/event's date to be parsed correctly to identify both the day and time - I only get the day, and the time is set to 23:59 :-(

Has anyone tried it successfully ?

Todoist staff: can you please help, as I think if the parsing is not complete, then for me it seems this is not yet fully functional?

So for the Todoist developers: <remind 2014-03-09T17:30:00Z> is creating a reminder at 17h30 on that day, but the "Todoist date" entry can't parse correctly: 2014-03-09T17:30:00Z

It picks up the day correctly but then sets the actual time to 23:59.

Does it make sense? :) Can you please fix it to provide a complete Zapier integration?

Many thanks,
Mike

Hello Mike,

Please describe how exactly did you set up the zap, what filter, what keys, conditions, values etc. did you use.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Trigger: New event in Google Calendar
Result: Create Task in Todoist

No filter set - just the name of the calendar I want (Events)

Section 5 - Match up Google Calendar Event to Todoist Task

Project ID: (name of an existing Project)

Title: !! {{summary}} !! <remind {{start__dateTime}}>

Note (shouldn't affect it): {{description}}
Location: {{location}}
Ends: {{end__dateTime_pretty}}

Date: {{start__dateTime}}

Priority : urgent

Thanks!

Mike,

Thank you for these details, I've been able to reproduce this now and passed it to the developers.

Trigger: New event in Google Calendar
Result: Create Task in Todoist

No filter set - just the name of the calendar I want

Section 5 - Match up Google Calendar Event to Todoist Task

Project ID: (name of an existing Project)

Title: !! {{summary}} !!

Note (shouldn't affect it): {{description}} {{location}}

Date: event begins

Priority : natural

Zapier says that it has sent new tasks to ToDoist, but I don´n see them

Any clue?

So Celita you have the same issue like me :-)

Yes, depending on your Zapier subscription, I think for the free type, it's every 15 mins that it checks for new "triggers", but if you "test" it based on the sample, you will get new tasks based on an existing calendar appointment.

You're very welcome! :) it nicely simplifies integration: adding a calendar event with location, attendees etc. and , there you see it in Todoist as well! Magic! ;-)

Hi David, would you mind chasing the developers about this? more than a month has passed since the last update.

Hello Mike,

Unfortunately it turns out this date format is not supported yet, but it will be added in the future. Sorry for the inconvenience.

So in essence the Zapier integration is incomplete... Any time expectations? :)

Mike,

The integration is complete, but the Todoist API doesn't fully support every possible date format that other apps provide to it. Unfortunately, I can't give you an ETA when we'll add support for all formats, but we'll look into it.

David

Mike M and Celita972, thanks so much for your documentation here. I was having the same issue with Zapier and couldn't figure it out; have eliminated "pretty date" and everything's rolling along now.

Hi support,

This used to work but now it's broken again.

Did someone mess with the task creation through Zapier?

In short: 2014-08-22T20:00:00+01:00 does not resolve the time correctly when sending it from Zapier.

It was working fine for a few months now.

Thanks
Mike

Sorted! For other people that might encounter the same issue: there's a new field on Zapier - Due Date (Raw Formatted)

That should be used to enter the "Event Begins" value, not the "Due Date (Human Formatted)" one ,

Cheers
