I logged in using my Google account. It won't get me into ToDoist. No error message - it just runs without moving to the next screen

Hello Ralph,

Please make sure your browser accepts third-party cookies or that at least [*.]todoist.com is whitelisted.

If that won't help, please send a screenshot showing this issue to david@doist.io and brendon@doist.io

David

Here's a screenshot link. I've installed ToDoist for Windows on this laptop, which appears to be okay. Installed ToDoist Firefox; gets same result as logging in. (this is a 2 screen setup).

Ralph,

Please tell me:
- Does your browser accept third-party cookies?
- Which version of Firefox are you using?

David,

-Yes, it does.
-27.0.1
-Webroot Security Software? I can't find a problem and it allowed installation, but...

Thanks,
Ralph

Is it a password hangup?

Ralph,

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this issue in Firefox 27.0.1 (or any other browser). Please try to clear the cache and disable the Webroot software and see if it helps.

David,

Tried both. Neither worked. Tried resetting a password so I could log in
directly without going through Google. That didn't work either. I love your
program and I'd buy the premium version in a heartbeat if this could be
figured out, but I'm at a loss right now.

Ralph,

I see on your screenshots that the URL seems to point to a project ID, please try to type https://todoist.com directly into the URL bar making sure Firefox will not suggest you a different URL and let me know if it helps.

If it does, then it's possible that you've set your start page (in Todoist's Settings) to a project which no longer exists or are using a bookmark pointing to an URL containing anything else than https://todoist.com

David

David,

I think you're on the right track.
No matter what I do, I get redirected to https://todoist.com/app?v=204. And
that's where I get stuck.
I can't figure out a way to stop it

Ralph,

https://todoist.com/app?v=204 is actually correct, but after that there should be nothing there by default or a query such as https://todoist.com/app?v=204#agenda/7__days,__overdue or, even if it's a project view the URL should be https://todoist.com/app?v=204#project/11929116

On your second screenshot the URL shows this pattern:

https://todoist.com/app?v=204?r=110929116

and that's strange as we don't use an "r" parameter usually.

That said, please try to access https://todoist.com through Firefox's Private Window (Ctrl+Shift+P) and see if the issue persists - in this mode, not plugins or cache will be active.

Also, if this won't work either, try to use this URL: https://todoist.com/app?v=204#agenda/7__days,__overdue to force it to go to your overdue and today's tasks.

You've said the Windows app works fine - it's based on Chrome's engine. If you could check if logging in directly via Chrome works, that would also be helpful and clearly narrow down the source of this issue to Firefox.

David

David,

Tried through the Firefox Private Window both URLs you suggested. No luck.
I don't have Chrome installed on this computer. I will install it and try
it later. But I'm a long time Firefox user; tried Chrome and wasn't a fan.

Ralph,

Of course you don't have to switch to Chrome permanently, just for the purpose of testing this issue.

Please confirm, can you actually access your account through our Windows app? If so - how many tasks do you have? Can you access the settings through the Windows app?

David

I've been getting used to it all day today. 14 tasks (remaining), 6
projects. And it syncs with phone and tablet.

I'll try it out on Chrome later tonight or in the morning.

David,

I can get to the settings except "Open Todoist.com" gets me me to the
roadblock.

Ralph,

If you can get to the settings, try to set a custom start page to "p1" to see tasks with priority 1 (even if you don't have any).

Unfortunately, I'm not sure what else could cause such issue :-( I can't reproduce this, I use Firefox by default too. It looks a lot like a caching issue - our app always wants to set a local cache file as we use HTML5 with local storage. Do you actually see todoist.com on the list of sites storing offline data in Firefox's Options -> Advanced -> Network?

If so, does it say only todoist.com? How large is it? More than 1 MB? Do you have the "tell me when a site wants to store data for offline" option activated?

If todoist.com is listed there and the file is not empty, tyr to disconnect from the internet and then go to this URL: https://todoist.com/app?v=204 Todoist should fail to connect and read the data along with the entire site from the offline storage.

David,

Okay, so I tried all of the various things you suggested above and none of them worked with Firefox. I installed Chrome and Todoist works perfectly. I went ahead and bought the premium edition, because I like your program enough and the workaround of having two different browsers is not that bad.
When I went to the list of sites storing off-line data in Firefox, all of them were related to Todoist. I gradually deleted them one by one and still couldn't make it work.
If this comes up for someone else, or if you have any other inspirations, I'd be happy to try them. In the meantime, you have a new customer.

Thank you for all your help and concern.

Ralph
