Linux - freezes computer when I attempt to login with the chrome extenstion.

JN

With Chrome on Fedora (19 & 20), when I click to login with my google account (through the chrome extenstion) it freezes the computer. I end up cold booting. when I restart the machine, and launch chrome again, the todoist extension is logged in.

Hi John,

Are you 100% sure it's when ONLY when using Todoist? Does it occur when doing anything else? What other extensions do you have installed with Chrome?

Try clearing the cache and offline data for Chrome (for Todoist) and try again.

Regards,
Brendon.

Yes - every time. I run fedora on a few different machines, and it always crashes when I try to login with my google account. This is using the todoist chrome plugin.

Hello John,

Please tell me - are you using the latest version of Chrome and does it only happen in our extension or also when you try to log in through Chrome directly at https://todoist.com ?

Best regards,
David

Yes -- latest version of Chrome -- and only with the extension. When I login directly it's fine. with the externsion, when I select login in with google account, i see it authenticate -- it throws up a window, that ends up behind the main todist window (i think the message saying I successfully logged in), and then it freezes. Not just Chrome, but everything on the computer. I can't select anything, or click to shut down. I have to cold boot it. This happens on my desktop (lenovo) and laptop (dell).. they both are running Fedora 20, but this happened to me on 19 as well.

when I do start the computer back up after the freeze, and launch Chrome -- the Chrome extension is logged into my account, and I can use it.

John,

As Brendon asked earlier, did you ever experience such issue with any other extension that supports Google Login? Did it ever freeze when you've authorized Google on any other site than Todoist? Does your browser accept third-party cookies and doesn't have any popup blockers?

Best regards,
David

No I do not experience it with any other extensions. My browser accepts third-party cookies, and i do not have any pop-up blockers. It's all pretty much straight out of the box install - nothing unique or out of the ordinary installed or configured.

John,

Unfortunately, we're unsure what is causing this :-( We couldn't reproduce it so far on any Windows PC or Mac. We don't have Linux at hand right now, but if we'll get the opportunity to test it on Linux, we'll let you know. Sorry for the inconvenience.

For now, as a workaround, please log in directly at todoist.com go to Settings -> Account, use "Edit" next to "Password" and set a manual password for your account. Now, you'll be able to log in manually without Google through the extension.

Best regards,
David

Just an update -- I've changed distro's to Ubuntu, and the problem does not occur. Seem s to be isolated to Fedora.
