Notes Disappeared

I added a note to a task which already had four notes, and when I added the fifth note, all the others disappeared even though I did not delete them. The task then showed only one note. I closed out and cleared my cache, and thankfully, the notes returned. But this seems like a bug and I wanted to report it. Thanks.

Can you tell me which platform you are using when this happened, web (which browser) desktop app, mobile?

I use the web platform, and Chrome is the browser I use.

Please tell me - does this happen in a shared project? Also, is there any way in which you can reliably reproduce and trigger this bug? For example - does it happen within only one project or only sub-tasks or only if it's the 5th note?

Hi David,

I don't have any shared projects that I am aware of. I have not reproduced this bug. I tried to trigger it by adding five notes to another task, but they saved fine and none were lost. It has only happened once, but I will definitely re-post if it happens again. Thank you!

This happened to me again today. I added a second note to a task and the first note just disappeared. I will clear my cache and hope that resolves the problem again. I really hope this can get fixed soon.

Clearing the cache did bring the lost note back, to my great relief. To give you more information, the first time it happened, it was not a sub-task; this time it was. (By sub-task you mean indented under another task, right?) The first time it happened, it was the fifth note; this time it was the second note. Each time was a different project.

Please tell me - did you at any point un-complete tasks? We've just found a bug that can cause notes to be lost if you use the check box in the note window to un-compete a task from the "View All Completed" view.

That said, did you uncomplete the affected tasks, even in a different way than from there?

Yes, I actually have un-completed tasks. I know I un-completed a task in the affected project before the second time the note disappeared. I'm not sure if I un-completed any tasks the first time it happened, but it's quite possible, as that is a feature I've used several times.

Was there a resolution on this? I can't add any notes at all - they just disappear. The only thing that is updated is the notes count.

This may be a different issue. Do you enter a note and it shows for a second and this disappears? As that would be a different issue to this one. We are looking into that one now but are having trouble reproducing it. Please feel free to start a new thread about this giving as many details as possible.

I noticed this happened to me today unfortunately. And it is a really important note :(
I am using the web version, using Chrome, on Windows 8.1.

I added notes yesterday and I went to add some more notes and all the notes were gone.

Hello Marco,

Please go to Chrome's Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data, find and remove Todois't entries there, reload Chrome and log back in at todoist.com.

Sadly we do not know exactly what is causing this and are hoping its a one time thing, but we are still going to look into it.
