Android App doensn't start

VV

I want to start using Todoist. However, I want to be able to use it on my Windows PC as well as on the web and on my android phone.
The android app doesn't start (failed at startup). I have tried installing it several times, but with no success. After installation, it doesn't get through startup. I have android 4.1.2 on my phone

Hello Vincent,

Please tell me:
- Which version of our app are you using?
- Are you installing it on your internal memory?
- Do you have any custom ROMs, task killer apps or any strong Android customization?

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

thank you for your swift reply.

I downloaded the latest version of your app from Google Play. It's automaticaly installed on my internal memory. I have a Sony Xperia S and the Original Sony software. No custom ROM, no task killers or other customization.

Kind regards,
Vincent

Vincent,

If you head into the Android Settings area, then Applications, then head to Todoist and clear the cache and force close it. Does it allow it to start then?

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon,

No, sorry. I can enter my email address and password and then for a moment it seems to start, but then it stops.

Vincent,

I will pass this onto the devs, but we are having a hard time reproducing this issue. It may be related to the device itself.

Regards,
Brendon

Hello David,

Thank you for your mail.
There's no error after start, but I can't login. I don't get an opening
screen. I can make a project and insert tasks, but I don't get to see it on
my phone. There's a constant turning circle that shows the app is starting.

I hope this helps you.

Vincent,

Please try to completely uninstall the app and then get the latest version from the store and let me know if the issue persists.

Also, make sure you're online when you try to log in and have a fairly stable connection. Later, you can use the app even offline, but the initial sync is necessary.

Best regards,
David

Hi everyone,

I have the same issue and made a short recording of it:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ei0mn3dfmzoa90s/todoist%20problem.mp4

To answer your questions:
- Which version of our app are you using?
the latest one, i.e. 3.2.0
- Are you installing it on your internal memory?
Yes
- Do you have any custom ROMs, task killer apps or any strong Android customization?
I installed Autostarts to kill unwanted Autostarts, but Todoist is not affected by that. Rooted the phone for it. My device is a Samsung Note 2 GT-N7105, Android version 4.3 standard stock.

I also tried to reissue a new API token without success.

Dieter,

Please try clearing the data for the app, then trying again. Also, we do not really support rooted devices, as it can cause all types of issues.

Also. try disabling the autostarts app just to test, it's always possible it is causing issues with Todoist.

Regards,
Brendon.
