Hi Trent,

Please try closing Outlook and then clearing this cache. %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Todoist\Outlook\Cache Let me know if it continues after that.

Brendon.

I have the same problem and I do not have a folder at the above location called Cache.

What else can I try?

I have tried all sorts of things but not working still.

Uninstalled TD and rebooted then re-installed.

Cleared IE cache then re-installed TD

Still not getting anything in the TD window in Outlook.

Please send us (david@doist.io and brendon@doist.io) this log: Documents\Add-in Express\adxloader.log

Also, please try to search for any "Todoist" folder in the AppData/Local location.

Todoist list is blank, I double click on a meeting request that has come into my inbox, this opens another outlook window, with focus on calendar - ta da, todoist is back.

I close my 'old' non-working outlook window, and change to 'mail' tab on my new window.

works now... I dare not close outlook incase it goes away

Outlook has plugin loaded, but is blank. Removed and reinstalled multiple times.

When you open Outlook, do you see Todoist.Helper.exe running in your Task Manager? Do you have any Antivirus software installed? If you do have AV installed, and Todoist.Helper.exe is not running, try add to av exception list %ProgramFiles(x86)%\OutlookTodoistADX\Todoist.Helper.exe

Just a reply to add another user to the list. Blank Outlook window here as well. It used to work, but after reinstalling with the newest outlook plugin it fails for me. Reason to reinstall was not being able to connect anymore. Now it is just a blank screen.

Tried:
- thorough reinstall (run uninstaller, clear appdata, use reg cleaner to remove registry items).
- Login/logout IE10
- Login/logout chrome (set as default browser)
- Disable/re-enable in outlook via add-in COM options.

It might have something to do with the office proxy (i'll try and use this from home later today).

CEF.log message:
"Uncaught ReferenceError: setOutlookEmail is not defined"

Which has a similar hit on a question hinting at proxy issues. My company uses an automatic proxy configuration script via IE10. It has worked before via the proxy, and I am not aware of any changes to the script.

I verified it is most probably the proxy. I have used my telephone 4G via wifi hotspot and that solves the issue. re-enabling the connection via the proxy again directly results in a D/C Outlook Todoist.

Seems for now I will disable the plugin in the office. It would be nice to see a fix for this though. If this can only be resolved via a proxy/script update I would like to know as well.

P.S. forgot to mention before but also disabled any AV, that didn't solve the problem either.

Just to add a bit of "color" to the discussion (sorry - couldn't resist), my Outlook TD initially shows as a blank white screen when I open the TD pane for about 20 seconds, then the TD screen with my tasks appears. Subsequent opening and closing of the pane is fine, with only a minor .5-1 second pause before the task list appears.

Closing and restarting Outlook (no reboot of Windows) causes the initial 20 second delay again.

I am experiencing a similar problem to the ones described above too.

I am running:
- Windows 7 Professional (32-bit)
- Outlook 2010

I've tried uninstalling/re-installing, however that doesn't improve the problem.

The pane is not being re-drawn when I attempt to interact (click/type etc). Collapsing/expanding will force a re-draw - but is not very usable.

Has a root cause been found yet?

Thanks.

Yes, it would be very helpful if I could set my own HTTPs proxy for todoist. I cannot change my IE proxy settings, which loads a company script. Other applications like spotify allow me to set a separate HTTPs proxy, which works.

It appears Todoist relies on Internet Explorer to be installed.
Kind of unfair if you have do not wish to have Internet Explorer installed.

Also to be safe I added https://todoist.com/ as a trusted site in IE.

Hello,

We are rendering using Chromium. We were using IE in the past, but last year we've moved over to a Chrome engine. Nonetheless, it's possible that it looks at IE's general proxy settings. We'll look into changing this too and add a dedicated menu for our plugin which will allow you to configure proxy manually.

@patel

Glad it helped you, that was exactly my reason for sharing. I knew that Todoist was using the IE proxy settings, but I thought whitelisting them in my proxy script was sufficient as I need my company script to be loaded in IE settings. Then I found out that I could keep the proxy script loaded but disable the automatic detection which solves the Todoist mystery. Indeed, chrome is using the IE proxy settings as well, Microsoft... ;).

Anyways, great that it works. It made Todoist so much more usable for me. A separate proxy panel would still be nice but for me personally isn't needed anymore.

@todoist team, you made a great product. Thank you for caring :)

Uninstall, reinstall, nothing. iPad, iPhone, iMac all work fine, web works fine, just anything to do with Windows seems to have the problem. I can live without it on Windows, just don't want to, I liked having my Todoist everywhere I needed it, now it's almost like it doesn't matter which app I use, I'm restricted. Having the same issue, black screen in MS Outlook 2013. ToDoist stopped working after an update. I tried reinstalling but it didn't help. Clearing the Cache did not work. I added the site to my IE trusted sites and it didn't fix the problem. I did notice there are three ToDoist Helper tasks running in Windows. Stopping the first one does nothing, stopping the second one killed ToDoist in Outlook and stopped the third process. I am not using a proxy.
ToDoist is useless to me at this point.

I see this error in the plugin log.
2014-11-05 15:54:54.3554| 1|ERROR|AddinModule |ProcessAddSelectedMailItem error.

Hi all, I found another thread that suggested the issue was related to an AMD graphics card. http://todoist.com/Support/show/44780/

I am running Windows 7 64 bit with an AMD graphics card. I right clicked on my desktop and selected "Configure Switchable Graphics". Once the Catalyst window came up I changed the graphics setting for todoisthelper.exe to power saving. Closed the window and re-opened outlook. Now I have the ToDoist login screen.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like we should be getting an extended period on our subs.

I'm on this sorry list too. Almost giving up on Todoist... Is there anything we can do to help? It has been a long time since the last staff response...

Hello,

We're very sorry for the inconvenience, we are looking into solving it as soon as we can, once we finally manage to get a developer on board who can reliably address all problems with the Outlook plugin.

David

OMG - you have been threatening to sort out the plugin and get a developer to do it for about 16 months now. What happened to the last one you employed to completely re-build the plugin?

His version worked for about a month and then started going wrong too.

It has never worked very reliably for what seems like a lot of people and it has never been fixed and there is little chance of that happening (this is mainly for those awaiting the fix). The fact is that there is no other to-do app (that I am aware of) that integrates with Outlook at all. This means it is hardly a priority to fix.

Charles,

We're very upset about it just as you are, we've worked with multiple developers over the past years, each fixed some issues, not others or other issues returned, but we will continue to look for someone who can actually fix all problems with this plugin. We're very careful who we hire and disappointed in the results, we would also love to finally have a fully working Outlook plugin already :-(

David

FYI - Today I realized that todoist hadn't been syncing in Outlook or in the Windows app for quite a while. I tried logging out, which caused both Outlook plugin and Windows app to get stuck in a never-ending "cannot sync" loop. I uninstalled both the plugin and the app and reinstalled. Upon reinstall both the plugin and app were getting white backgrounds with no way to login. I used Bastijn's ""automatically detect settings" in internet explorer (Internet Explorer/Internet Options/Connections/Lan Settings" trick and suddenly had login screens for both the Outlook plugin and the Windows app. I'm not sure how disabling "automatically detect settings" will impact other applications or website, so I'm a little worried about this as a long-term solution. BUT...I'm logged in and syncing todoist for now and am happy about that.
Using Win7 64-bit, with IE 9 and Outlook 2010. BTW, I had to enable compatibility mode to get this page to load and display the Post and Cancel buttons in IE 9.

Finally got it to work. I have used Bastijn's solution but I also had to untick the Proxy Settings as well. Closed Outlook and opened it again and I am now able to log in!

Some info to assist.

When I am inside the company, I must run through a proxy. In this case, Exchange email in Outlook (and all other company systems) work. The Todoist in Outlook or Windows shows a blank screen with no option to login. Todoist in Firefox works normally. Note that IE and Firefox use the exact same proxy.

When I am out of the company, using an open internet connection, Todoist Outlook extension works fine (although Exchange email or any other company systems does not).

If I run a software called Juniper Pulse out of the office, my open internet connection will be routed through the company's proxy, enabling all internal systems. Todoist in Outlook will loop and error trying to display the login window.

Firefox extension works always.

Sounds to me like the Firefox extension is using a different port than the Windows or Outlook plugins to communicate to the outside world. Should be quite straight-forward to fix. If you can't do it by yourselves, informing the users of the comms port should enable us to liaise with our IT departments and get things done.

I am glad David Trey is once again replying to this thread and hopefully we can get the plugin to work soon enough.

Cheers and hope this helps!
