all entires gone

All projects and tasks disappeared yesterday, on both my Mac and online accounts. It was all there on Friday, but when I opened it up yesterday it was gone, and I have been unable to retrieve it.

We're sorry for the inconvenience, this issue has already been fixed, please log out and back into your account and you'll see all your data. Also, please make sure you're logging into the correct account.

Thanks for the reply, but I still am unable to see my data. I tried closing and reopening, as well as logging out and in again. I tried putting in a new test project and task, and that remains, but none of my old information has returned.

Kristina,

So you can confirm that you sign into the same account, the same way (Google or Pass/Email) at both locations, and data is missing?

We have one other report of this (data gone) and are looking into it now.

Yes... I have Todoist installed on my Mac, and also use Safari to log into it online. Same login and password for both places. All data is gone, though again, the test project/task I set up has remained.

Your current account creek@arcus.org seems to never have had any tasks. Could you have logged in with another email?

Do you remember any project names - - this way we could maybe locate your data.

No, I only ever used the creek@arcus.org email address for Todoist... and it definitely had projects and tasks set up.

A few the project names are as follows:

Logistics Workshop
ArcticInfo
SIPN (w/ sub-projects SIO and SIWO)
AGU Fall Meeting

And a few others that may not be verbatim:
Membership
Miscellaneous Admin
Safety Workshop
Board Management

Pretty sure there were more that I'm not remembering at the moment (which, ha, is why I need them back!).

Kristina,

We've just checked our logs for the activity on our account and we do see very clear results showing the deletion of multiple projects. At least one project has been manually deleted each day.

We've also double-checked our code and we can't find any bugs that would make it possible for any of these projects to be deleted by itself (as this process requires a manual confirmation which has been received).

That said, is it possible that someone else may have the login credentials to your account? Did you at any time delete a parent project (which also deletes all its sub-projects)?

No, I did not delete the projects, and the only person who has my work email and password is our Systems Administrator, who would not be logging into my Todoist account to delete worklists. Are the projects you're seeing deleted the same as (or similar to) the ones I listed in my last comment? And if so, is it possible to have them (and their affiliated tasks) reinstated?

I don't mind waiting if progress is being made, but if we're at a dead end, I'd prefer to know. And either way, is there any news on my questions above:

- Are the projects you're seeing deleted the same as (or similar to) the ones I listed in my [earlier] comment?
- If so, is it possible to have them (and their affiliated tasks) reinstated?
- If not, is it possible to send me the data that was deleted in a Word file (or any format you have available.. whatever it is, I'll take it) so that I can recreate it?

If none of those things are options, or the answer is not yet known, is it ok for me to try to recreate things from memory? Or do I need to leave my Todoist account alone as you try to sort through this problem?

Kristina,

We're very sorry for the inconvenience, but we may be at a dead end in this case indeed :-(

The issue is that we can\t send you any data as we don't have it anymore, we see a log with numbers - IDs of the projects and dates when they were deleted and they seem to be deleted gradually, on average, one project per day.Since they are deleted, we also can't retrieve them or view their names.

The only way to restore anything would be possible if you would have a Premium account in which case, each day Todoist would generate a full backup of all your data in a ZIP file and keep it for a week, you could then download it from your settings and import it. On a free account, such individual backups are not being created and the global backups also remove the data permanently if projects are being deleted the way they seemed to be based by the logs (not at once, but one by one, day after day manually).

Again, we're very sorry for the inconvenience, it leaves us clueless as the logs are clear and look like you've deleted all project, but you say you didn't. In fact, you say they're all gone from one day to another which contradicts the data in our logs.

That said, if you'd like to recover it from memory, please do so as there's nothing we can do on our end at this point :-( Sorry for the inconvenience.
