Hi Marcus,

You only need to add our iCal feed to your calender once, it will update itself once changes are made, unless of course you are using Google. They unfortunately, only sync once a day. Please confirm which software you are using?

You will have to remove the feed from your calender, you can find this along side the rest of your listed calenders.

Brendon.

Thanks for quick answer!

I,m not shore if I understand correct..

If I want to see my tasks in Calendar (iCal) I go to settings > generally > Export task to Calendar.
Correct?

If I do the same procedure again I can see all my tasks twice. If I do it again I can see all my tasks three times..
Is that correct?

I use Calendar (iCal) connected to google.

Hello Marcus,

Yes, that's correct. Your calendar software will allow you to add any iCal feed and if you add the same one multiple times, you'll see it as many times as you've added it. You can also remove each instance from your calendar software.

So you mean if I:
-Create a task A, and than click on "Export task to Calendar" in Todoist, I will see task A in my Calendar?

-If I later create a task B and again click on "Export task to Calendar", I will see task A two times and task B one time in my Calendar?

-If I later create a task C and again click on "Export task to Calendar", I will see task A three times, task B two times and task C one time in my Calendar?

Marcus,

You can't export single tasks to your calendar. When you add the iCal feed from Todoist to your calendar software, all your tasks that have a due date will show up in the calendar. If you add new ones on Todoist they will sync automatically, you don't really need to add the feed multiple times otherwise you will indeed have a list of calendars that show the exact same data.

Based on your example - you would see all 3 tasks 3 times - once in each calendar.

Also, please note that Google have set their servers to sync iCal feeds only once a day so unlike in any other calendar, if you use the Google Calendar, you'll have to wait a day for any changes made in Todoist to reflect in the calendar.

Best regards,
David

I promisse - I'm not stupid:-). Perhaps we have language difficulties?

If I understand correct:

1. If I have clicked on "Export task to Calendar" in my Todoist I don't need to click on it again when I have created new tasks cause my Calendar will automatically be updated (with these new tasks) once a day?

2. If I click on "Export task to Calendar" in my Todoist more than once my tasks will appear more than once in my Calendar although it's correct (every task appear once) in my Todoist? If so, will my Calendar be correct/similar to my Todoist together with Googles daily sync?

Marcus,

There is no "Export task to Calender" option in Todoist. If you head to Todoist.com, click on the gear icon in the top right corner. That pop-up will have an iCal Feed URL that you can copy or paste into a calender software, you can also click the "Export tasks to your calender" which does the same thing with an ics file.

Now once this is added to your calender, it will update on it's own, whenever changes are made on the Todoist side of things. Yes, to your first question.

I am not sure your second question, you don't need to add the feed to Google Calender more than once. We do not sync with anything else.

Regards,
Brendon.

Explanation question 2:

I've just started to use Todoist. I found "Export task to Calendar" clicked on it. Result, i could see my tasks in my Calendar (iCal). Great! After that I added mor tasks. Couldn't see them in Calendar (cause I have to wait for Googles daily sync?) so I clicked on "Export task to Calendar" again. Than I saw my first tasks twice in my calendar.

Marcus,

As I've mentioned earlier - that's the correct behavior. Imagine the iCal feed being a courier delivering a package for you each day. Everything you add on your todo list in Todoist will be delivered tomorrow. Now, exporting the iCal feed is like ordering another courier which will deliver the same goods for you.

If you've clicked on this link 5 times, 5 couriers will arrive tomorrow with the same set of goods :)

Please let me know if that clarifies it. The reason why Google only refreshes the feed once a day is their server settings. We can't change them. If you would use any otehr calendar such as Apple's own iCalendar or Outlook Calendar, the changes would be synced instantly, it's only Google who "sends the courier" once a day.

Best regards,
David

Gear icon in the upper right corner (Settings) -> Todoist settings -> General tab -> iCalendar feed at the bottom of the page. Copy that URL and paste it in your calendar app.

My Todoist on a Motorola Android phone refreshes automatically to the Calendar app packaged with my phone. Good. But items entered to the Calendar app do not seem to refresh the other way to Todoist. Can I make that work?

Hello Steve,

Unless the app you're referring to has this as a feature (sync with Todoist), it's unfortunately not possible. If it's Sunrise Calendar, it should work: https://todoist.com/blog/2014/09/todoist-now-available-for-sunrise-calendar/
