Reminders not working

RG

I am very happy with Todoist for Android, I use it constantly and successfully, reminders being one of the features I need most. Starting abouth a month ago I noticed that no sound warnings were coming from reminders, then I saw they were not even coming through, except for the email reminders.

The only hint I can provide is that I installed a software in my phone just about the same date. This was "Silencio, no molesen!" which provides a "white list" of contacts whose calls or messages can come through, while blocking al the rest of contacts.

Suspecting that the malfunction could be elicited by such software, I deleted it from the phone, but the problem exists all the same. Now I can't get even email reminders! The only ones still working are push messages, but deprived of their audible warning and their on-screen warning, which renders them useless, since I don't notice them coming.

I hope you can help with this glitch, since I appreciate the value of Todoist and would prefer to keep using it.

Thank you in advance

Hi Ricardo,

After closing the app, clearing the data for it (Android Settings, Applications) and logging back in are you still having issues. The Email reminders should be fixed. We are looking into the other reminder type issues.

So your PUSH do not work at all? Do you use SMS, and do they work?

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon, thanks for your help. I tested the reminders just now, one after the other, and the only one which worked was PUSH. With a whistle, yes, but without the yellow screen that used to forcibly (and usefully) show up before. I had to find the text for the reminder in the "notifications" section of the phone. Email and SMS did not came at all.

Regards,

Ricardo

Good news! When I tested a few minutes ago, the phone had wi-fi switched off. After switching on, a new test of email reminder came in nicely.

Remaining problems are:

a) I lack the warning yellow screen on PUSH reminders,
b) I'm not getting SMS reminders.

Ricardo,

We are looking into the Reminder issue now.

Though, please try using International as the Provider and trying each of the Canadian Send From Numbers for SMS.

Brendon.

I have what could be considered a similar issue here.

My reminders are constantly being turned off. Anytime I reset the reminders in either Android or the web app they work for a time, but eventually are turned off with no input or changes on my end.

Usually this happens within a day or two. I'm not sure if it's the Android side or the Web App, but my reminders are extremely sporadic. Regardless of Push, Email or SMS.

It's very frustrating at this point.

Otherwise love the app.

Hello James,

We'll release an update to the Android app which will address this and other sync issue, but to make sure it's the same issue - are you referring to tasks in private or shared projects? Is it possible that this happens if someone edits a task in a shared project?

Best regards,
David

These are private tasks. Thank you for the prompt response.

Hi Brendon, I'm afraid I don't understand the advice given " try using International as the Provider and trying each of the Canadian Send From Numbers for SMS."

As for providers I see only 3 choices in my phone, which are the 3 companies providing cellphone communications in Argentina.

I didn't have the time to do further testing, I plan to do it today, and tell you the results.

Best regards,
Ricardo

Hello Ricardo,

Please got to todoist.com log in and go to the Settings -> Reminders. Here, use the "Edit" option next to your phone number and while you're in Edit mode, you will see a few other drop-down menus.

- From the menu "Mobile provider" choose "International (or not in list below).
- From the "Number to send from" menu choose one of the Canadian numbers.

The save, test it and repeat with the other Canadian number.

@James - Please let us know if the issue will persist in version 3.0.10 of our app. In the meantime, if you could check if the same happens on the web, that would be helpful.

Best regards,
David

Hello David,

I switched to a Canadian number, then I juggled for a while with my own number, adding or substracting portions until I found the one that works (without "9" for cellphone, without a zero in the area code, without "15" at the beginning of the number).

After a successful trial with the Canadian number I tried back with the USA number but this failed.

The present situation is:

1) Email reminders started working just now!

2) SMS are working ok.

3) PUSH reminders are working, except for the yellow screen warning, which doesn't show up. I have to find the task in the notifications area of the screen, whenever I hear the whistle. Not that bad, but still I miss the visual warning.

When is version 3.0.10 to be launched?

Thank you for the help!

Best regards,
Ricardo

Ricardo,

It shouldn't be much longer, within a day or so. If not less, just finishing up some other fixes.

Regards,
Brendon.
