Opening an email task in the same single Gmail tab

I

Hi,

I use Firefox and Gmail and I just downloaded the todoist Gmail extension for Firefox to try your service.

I have added some emails as tasks and when I click on them, a new gmail tab is loaded with the message.
I always used Google Tasks and it opens the corresponding email in the same gmail tab, and that's much quicker. Is that possible with todoist? Getting fast to the message in the same tab without opening a new one and loading Gmail and the message again?

Thanks!

Hello,

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this issue. Please try to install our main Todoist for Firefox plugin from https://todoist.com/firefox and let me know if the issue persists there as well.

If it does, please tell me which version of Firefox are you using and if you have any GMail Labs extensions installed.

Best regards,
David

Hi, David,

thank you for your quick response.

It works fine if I use this plugin: I only have one Gmail tab and I load every email there.

Hi guys I am having this same issue on Chrome and its quite annoying since its much quicker when the related email opens right there on the same gmail tab. I am using the business version of the todoist for gmail. Any ideas how to fix this? its has become very frustrating using this a replacement for google tasks

Hi,

Yes we have another report of this happening, but only sometimes. We have not been able to find what the cause of it is.

Regards,
Brendon.

Not sure but it seems the issue where the related email task opens in a
separate gmail tab didn't seem to happen at first when I just had a few
tasks, but now that I have added over 13 tasks I see the issue all the time.

Here is what happens:

1) load gmail, and open the todoist preview window in the bottom right
corner
2) go to my inbox
3) click any task and it opens in a separate window
4) from the separate window I open the todoist window again and go to inbox
again
5) now instead of choosing one of the tasks at the bottom of the window I
scroll up to the top of the todoist window to see the older tasks. When I
click these tasks the related emails area opened in the same tab as they
should
6) but as soon as I go down to the bottom of the tasks and click one of
those it then opens the task in a separate tab.

Hoping this can be resolved soon since its totally counter productive and I
am thinking of switching back to gmail tasks since it was free from this
issue.

Also btw its kind of odd that new tasks are added to the bottom of the
inbox when the default view of the inbox is at the top where you see the
older tasks. don't see the sense in that

so I have another theory which maybe the newer tasks that I created (bottom
of the list) were when in the morning I had two gmail accounts open and so
the todoist app gets confused with this? since I am deleting those tasks
and recreating them to see if the issue is fixed
