Assign to person fails if record is not being editted

SD

Clicking on the person icon next to a task brings up a drop down of people to whom the task can be assigned. Clicking on one of these people has no effect unless the record is in edit mode.

Hi Scott,

Yes, this is the intended behavior. If you want to change who the task is assigned to you need to edit then task itself.

Frankly, I'd rather see the behavior change, so that we can do an assignment in fewer mouse clicks. It seems like better functionality. If not, then I suggest you not allow that icon to be clickable, and to bring up a context menu when clicked. Consider what the expected behavior is if somebody clicks on the icon, and then clicks on a person in the menu that pops up, which then makes the menu disappear. What would you expect it to do? What's the point of bringing up a menu and allowing the user to click on a person (which says "Assign task to person"!) if clicking doesn't actually do what the tool tip says it will?

Hello Scott,

Just to clarify - assigning a person takes 2 clicks:

1. Click on the head icon or the avatar/picture of the already assigned person.
2. Choose the other person from the drop-down menu.

That's it. We're unsure how we can minimize it to even fewer clicks, but we always appreciate your feedback and if you have ideas how to improve this process, please let us know :)

Best regards,
David

Ah, it's working now. This is exactly what I did a couple hours ago, and it didn't update the assignment. Now it does. Very strange.
