E-Mail forward to task - getting error notifications

Hi to the support guys at TD,

since today, when I forward a email to TD to make it a task, I get two e-mails stating a problem DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE TASK IS CREATED ALLRIGHT. Here are the e-mails:

An email was sent from "dj@...".
This email sender is unknown for us and the email was discarded.
If you wish to send emails from this address add it to your Todoist account: http://todoist.com/#email_tasks/11...

An email was sent from "dj@....".
Todoist could not process this due to a model error.
The cause is unknown, but could be related to a deleted item.
If you wish to send emails from this address add it to your Todoist account: http://todoist.com/#email_tasks/11...

As said, there is no problem with the functionality itself, since the task ist created. I just get those two mails everytime, which is annoying.

Please check

Denis

PS: TD Next is great, keep doing the great job

I have exactly the same issue since the last 12 hours, it seems that the email address project number changed.

I'm having the same problem, but it looks like you just need to change the addresses in your address book to the new ones that have been generated.

I have the same issue (including the fact that the task is still created). Where do I find the Email-Adress of the inbox in todist next? Hopefully there will be some more (and necessary) under the hood changes (markdown, keyboard shortcuts) now that the cosmetics have been improved with the new design.

I'm having the same problem. When I try to alter email adresses for my Todoist inbox, I get an error:
"Bad Request
Unknown error happened:"

So on the Todoist side I cannot make any changes.

Go into your inbox, open the little toolbox on the right, go to the option "add task from e-mail", a fenster opens and you will see the e-mail address of the inbox.

It seems that TD generated new mail-addresses in the course of the "todoist next"implementation.

Then change the e-mail address in the address book of your mail client.

It should work.

Well, that's my point d.p.Jeanson. When I open the toolbox and go for the option "add task from e-mail", I get an error message: "Bad Request Unknown error happened:"

Indeed it should work, I totally agree... :(

Hello,

We're very sorry for the inconvenience, there was an issue in our system that unfortunately forced us to change the ID of some projects - there was no other way to address it, though :-(

That said, please access the "Email tasks to this project" menu again and get the new email address for this project.

@Michiel - I can't reproduce this issue, the menu seems to load fine. Which browser are you using? Can you reproduce this in a different browser?

Best regards,
David

@david TD seems to have a nice user community, we solved the problem together :-)

I had no problem with this browser, until this morning. Google Chrome (version 30.0.1599.69 m) on a Windows pc. I also tried IE 8 on the same Windows pc, also not working. The only difference is that in IE 8 I get notified it is about an HTTP 400 error. But the problem is the same: I cannot access email adresses for the inbox, from neither browser.

That's strange. When I open one of two emails I get everytime I try to email a task, I get the following messages now:

First I get: "Project not found"

And after closing that one:
"Sorry, the page you're looking for isn’t here anymore
If you reached this page from another part of todoist.com, please let us know so we can correct our mistake."

Michiel,

Unfortunately, we no longer fully support IE 8. Please try to either upgrade IE to 11 or upgrade Chrome to the latest version 32.0.1700.76 m and see if it helps.

Best regards,
David

I asked my wife at home to log into Todoist on an iMac with Google Chrome version 32.0.1700.77. She got the exact same message. So it's not the browser that's causing the problem. Since it all worked perfectly until this morning on Google Chrome (version 30.0.1599.69 m) for Windows, IE 8 and Google Chrome version 32.0.1700.77 for Mac OS X, how can the browser be the problem?
My guess: when the problems started for the others in this thread, something happened to my account. It's corrupted or something. Anyway, I can't access my email settings for the inbox now. And I really need it to be fixed soon.

Michiel,

If you only need to add an additional email address to the list of accepted addresses, then it doesn't matter if you do it through the Inbox. You can right-click on any project, go to "Email tasks to this project" and add it there - this list is global for all project in your account.

Please let me know if it works.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

I already have tried to add an email adress to a different project. and just now I tried again. I have tried multiple projects, but I get the very same error at every single project.

So I am really thinking that my account settings have been damaged, corrupted or something.

I must admit I was very excited about my freshly obtained Premium account, but the spirits are dwindling fast. I add the vast majority of my tasks by email, so this problem makes it next to impossible for me to use Todoist the way I intended.

Michel,

We're very sorry for the inconvenience :( Please tell me - when you go to the "Email tasks to this project" window, does the number in the email you see at the top contain a dot? For example, does it show something like:

project.110110369.223179@todoist.net

or

project.110110369@todoist.net

Please try one more thing - go to the Settings -> Account and click on "Issue a new API token" and then retry. If this won't help, I'll pass it to the developers and we'll look into it on an account basis. Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

When I go to the "Email tasks to this project" window, that is when I get the error message. So I can't even get to checking what the default email adres looks like. But from what I have in my Gmail filter: it looks like the second one. Like "project.000000000@todoist.net".

What I also know is that the number after "project." was a different one yesterday (and in my Gmail filter) than the one mentioned in the two error emails I now get when I forward anything to my Todoist inbox. So for every mail I send to my inbox, I get those two error emails in return. And when I try to edit the email adresses for the inbox, I get the error popup screen.

I have issued a new api token. Without effect.

Wow, I just tried to send an email to the mail adress mentioned in those error mails. Then I get back an email with this:
Bad Request
Unknown error happened: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'name'"

Michiel,

Thank you very much for clarifying and sorry for the misunderstanding, I'm passing it to the developers right now.

For now, as a workaround, please try to construct the correct email address manually. The pattern is:

project.[PROJECT_ID].[USER_ID]@todoist.net

You can find the ID of each project in the URL when you enter this project. So, for example, if one of your projects would have the ID 000000, the address will be:

project.000000.11111@todoist.net

Where 11111 would be your User ID. That's of course not your real ID, I will send it to you now via email.

Best regards,
David

Hello Howard,

Please clarify - are you experiencing the issue with emails not arriving as tasks or not being able to view the "Email tasks to this project menu"?

In the first case, please get the new, updated email address for the project you want to send tasks into.

In the second case - let us know and we'll look into it.

Best regards,
David

It was the fact that the address had changed. I wasn't able initially to determine what the new address was. I finally figured out where the icon was to get to the new address. Thanks.
