Problem with tasks added through Gmail button

SS

Hi,

I have several Gmail accounts and a Todoist Gmail plugin installed.

If I open a task added using the "Add to Todoist" button in Gmail (i.e. an email added as a task), sometimes an incorrect Gmail account would open.

For example, an email from Ben received in Gmail 1 account and saved as a task would later redirect to Gmail 2 account.

Any ideas?

Many thanks.

Hi,

What browser are you using when this happens? Are you using Google Apps account or a regular Gmail account? Does this task then always go to the wrong account, or only sometimes?

Regards,
Brendon.

I'm using Chrome 32.0.1700.76 m and both regular and Google Apps accounts. The task goes wrong only sometimes, but the pattern remains unclear to me.

Thanks!

Hello,

Is it possible that you're logged into the incorrect account when trying to open an email that's from the other account?

When an email is added as a task, it contains the information about the unique ID of the message, but if you're logged into an account where this message doesn't exist, then it will not know what to open. Is that the case in your situation?

Best regards,
David

David

thanks, but this is not the case - I have just checked it while logged into both accounts.

One more observation - the redirection always works one way: from my Google Apps account to the regular account (which is also the account on which I have Todoist registered). If the regular Gmail account tab is active, clicking on this "bad" task just refreshes the page; if the Googls Apps account tab is open, then I get redirected to the regular account.

Any ideas?

I'm sorry, but I'm unsure if I understand this right :( If you are logged into different Gmail accounts at once, then it will always confuse our app as it will most likely attempt to utilize the most recently logged in account regardless of what account did the email originated from.

That said, please tell me - if you log only into one single account, add an email as a task, stay in this account and try to open it from the task - does it work?

Best regards,
David

David

that's true, if I use just one account then it works fine.

Does it mean that Todoist does not work properly with several Gmail accounts?

Thanks.

Yes and no.

Yes because it does work properly with one account - then you're always within the account that contains the messages you link to as tasks.

No because you can of course add emails from multiple accounts, but it won't know from which account they originate and will simply attempt to tell Gmail: "Open the message with the ID = 4567897456". Now, if you do that while being logged into another account, the incorrect Gmail account may respond: "There is no such message here, I'm going to the Inbox".

That said, it's more of a general issue of handling unique elements with multiple accounts as it may confuse the browser itself which account should actively handle the request at the given time - this doesn't happen if you're only using one.

Best regards,
David
