Why does clicking on an email link not open a new tab in gmail?

JB

Hi,

I've been using the pro version for a few days now, and love all the features so far. There is one big annoyance however - if I click on an email address from within Todoist, it does not open a new tab in Chrome to compose a new email within gmail, but rather redirects to gmail from Todoist directly, requiring that I hit the back button in my browser to return to my lists. Can this be changed? It seems that most other productivity tools open clicked links in new tabs.

Thanks

Hi Jordan,

To clarify, you are clicking on a task that was created within gmail with our gmail plugin? When you do, it opens that email, but loads it over the page that was already open?

Unfortunately this can not be changed at this time, but we will consider it in future updates.

Regards,
Brendon.

No, this is only when I click a stand alone email address, manually entered, within a task from the main Todoist interface. If I click a "saved email as task" that I created with the plug-in, it actually does open a new tab.

For example the issue I describe occurs when a link path shows up as "mailto:"

Jordan,

Direct links added to a task, or task note aren't fully supported, and is probably why it opens overtop the current window. We will try to improve this support in the future.
