Issue with signing in through a google account that has multiple emails associated with it.

TS

Hi,

So when I originally signed up for todoist I chose to sign in through my google account which was initially linked to my hotmail email address. Everything was working fine until I recently added a gmail account to the same google account. Since both emails are associated with the same google account whenever I try to log in to todoist through a web browser it seems that the gmail address is being used as the primary address and the program thinks that I'm a new user. It gives me a blank screen with none of my projects and all the helpful hints on how to use it for the 'first' time. Is there a way to fix this/work around this?

Hello Tamika,

Please clarify - what do you mean with added a Gmail account to the same Google Account? Each Gmail account is a separate Google Account and depending on which of these you're logged in, Todoist will authorize a separate account linked to each email.

That said, to avoid this, please always log into the same Gmail/Google account as you always were before you've created multiple Gmail accounts.

Alternatively, you could log into your main Todoist account, go to Settings -> Account, set a password for it and use manual login for Todoist.

Best regards,
David

I don't know how I did it, but when I originally got the google account I did it using my hotmail email address and it didn't have a gmail address associated with it. Recently when I was logged in to that account I set up a gmail email address for that google account which I had not done before. That became the primary email address associated with the google account, and made the hotmail address an alternate address. Essentially I can log into google using either my hotmail address or gmail address and it is the same account. However if I try to log in to todoist, it seems to have created a new account associated with the gmail address and I can't get it to access my actual account.

I would set a manual password, but as I said I cant get it to log in to my main account because it keeps redirecting to the blank account associated with the gmail address. Is there any way you could set a temporary manual password for me to access it?

Hello Tamika,

Please try to log out of Todoist and use the "Forgot password" option on the login screen. Start by using the original Hotmail account and assuming you still have access to it, you will receive an email with a password reset link allowing you to set a password for this account and then log into it manually.

If that won't work, repeat it with any other accounts/addresses you use.

Best regards,
David

Hi

I tried using the forgot password option for the hotmail email address that the account was initially associated with. I have tried a couple of times and no emails have come through?

Tamika,

You aren't able to sign in with the hotmail account, and you aren't able to sign in with Google.

Have you tried signing in with the Google account, but by entering the email address. I see two accounts with your name, tkstasiuk@gmail.com and tamikastasiuk@hotmail.com.

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi

So I tried to login through the google account but using the hotmail email address as the user. It just came up with an error. If I try logging in using the google account and the gmail address it just redirects to the blank account.

Hi Tamika,

I have sent the password reset email manually. Please let me know if you get this email.

Brendon.
