Adding same label to multiple tasks

I am trying to figure out the quickest way to add a new label to multiple tasks. I'd ideally add the new label to so many tasks across multiple projects that it would be much easier to do this as a simultaneous change, but can't figure out how to do it.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Blake,

Unfortunately, at this time it's not possible. You can SHIFT click tasks to multi select, but it does not include changing labels, though we do plan to add more feature in the future.

Hi Brendon,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Shame it can't be done at the moment - any ideas when it may be possible?

Out of curiosity, is there any way I can export the projects as a template in any way, and then re-upload them with additional labels, (even as a new project and then delete the old one) or can they not be manipulated in that way?

Hello Blake,

Technically, yes, you can use the import/export template option as show in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Rl_CLGY_3o

The format these templates are stored for is custom, though, but if you'll see how labels are added there, you could manipulate the TXT file easily :)

Thanks - already seen that video and know how to export/import. Problem is, I can't easily see how this files are editable as text format and if I delimit them into columns, when I add the labels and convert them back into txt, it messes up the format of the file, which means it errors or doesn't recognise the changes. Are you able to provide instructions on how to add labels to the txt file in a way that does not error with the import?

Unfortunately, that's not directly possible. You can copy/paste the labels after each task's name, but if you change the format of how they're stored, it will indeed not work :(

In general, the TXT file will expect one line to be one task so if you would prepare a file with this content:

Task 1 @label
Task 2 @label

It should correctly add 2 tasks, each with the label in it.

I registered just to +1 this. You should be able to multiselect and apply ANY of the features eg Priority as well.

Remember the Milk has this and it's a real timesaver, including hot keys eg 1 for P1 etc

+1 for the suggestion of assigning _any_ function to one or more selected tasks!

Nearly a year since it was mentioned that Todoist hoped to add more "Bulk Change" features. Any updates on this?

I'd really appreciate being able to bulk:
* Remove Date
* Add or Remove Label
* Add, Remove, Change Priority
