Backups, Comments, Exporting

E

Hi,

I'm looking to do the following:

1. Export/backup all completed tasks into a CSV or html file which includes date completed and any notes made on individual tasks.

I'd be willing to get the printed completed task list via the Karma button as a quick backup of completed tasks with the time/date completed and supplement that with an API-based export of tasks and comments.

Ultimately what I'd want to do, either via the UI or via the API is to get a backup of my tasks with dates completed and any associated task notes into some kind of basic, readable format (csv, xls, html). If this includes non-completed tasks as well then all the better. Is any combination of this possible with even the API access?

Thanks for a great tool btw!
Eric

Hello Eric,

Unfortunately, that's not possible right now at least not when it comes to readable format and completed tasks.

You can export all your active tasks with notes, labels and due dates using the Backups option as shown in this short video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U96Nco_but4

However, this will export them into specially formatted TXT files which you can import into Todoist, but they're not in the CSV standard and don't include completed items.

If you're OK with printing your completed task list (on paper or to a PDF file using a plugin), you can do so by going to the Karma -> View All Completed and then clicking on the gear icon and choosing "Print current page".

As for the API - as it gives you access to your data, you could try to script a code that would read this data and convert it into an exportable format. You can find the entire documentation for our APIs here: https://todoist.com/API/help

Best regards,
David

Thanks David, it looks like the only thing not covered is exporting completed tasks with notes. However, it appears as if it may be possible given the API. I shall try it out.

Thanks!
