Internal Error in Windows app

I updated Todoist Windows App last week to version 2.6.1.0. Since then I'm getting the error:

"Todoidt get an internal error, please let it to send us information about is, so we would be able to fix it ASAP".

I can't use the Windows App of Todoist any more. I tried installing the app again, also by deleting my browser cache (from IE and Chrome) but nothing seems to work. Is there a solusion?

I'm using Windows 8.1.

Hello Peter,

Unfortunately, I can't reproduce this issue on Windows 8.1

If uninstalling and re-downloading + reinstalling didn't help, please tell me - are you behind any firewalls, proxy servers or a VPN? Also, are you sure that the app isn't already running (in the system tray) as you try to open it?

Best regards,
David

Hello David,

I disabled all Firewalls (Windows, anti-virus and modem) but it didn't work. I'm not behind a proxy server or a VPN.

When the Windows App crashes, the app stops running (no icon in system tray and no process in task manager). So when I try to open Todoist again, no Todoist-proces is already running.

I clicked yes to let Todoist send information to you, but I don't know if you can look into that information.

Greetings,
Peter

Hi,

Unfortunately we don't have a fix yet, we are having trouble with more than one issue with our plug in, we hope it will be fixed soon.

Sorry about that.

Regards,
Brendon.

How will this fix be announced to customers?

Is this just an issue with Windows 8?

Are you any closer to releasing a fix for this.

This is very annoying now being able to have a windows app, it is the main reason I chose Todoist over any other service. I have paid my fee to be a premium member.

Commented on this thread almost a month a go and Peter created the thread 6 months ago.

Hello Brent,

Unfortunately, so far we weren't able to trigger such error under any circumstance :-( We'll continue to look into it, but without being able to reproduce it even once, it's extremely difficult to identify the cause of such issue.

But Brendon Wadey within this thread goes on to say "No its an issue with both the windows app and Outlook on Windows 7 as well."

How can you know this if you can not replicate the error?

I frequently miss tasks because its not practical to always have my Chrome window set to todoist, it really kills productivity and this is what I want it for

Brent,

There is a general issue with both the Windows and the Outlook app both sometimes, under some circumstances which we can't clearly identify, either don't work, or crash. We'll continue to try to identify this issue. We're aware of it based on multiple reports, but still can't clearly do something that could always reliably trigger it and based on that find its cause and fix it :-(

Best regards,
David

Ditto here, started getting, re-installed. I have it start automatically (WIN7, 64bit, not using Outlook version) and get the error on startup. However, restarting the app works fine.

BTW, this grammar made me think virus at first, can you fix that?

Yesterday I got this error message, and I cannot use Todoist off line any more.
I was working on Todoist offline and listening to music on ITune at the same time. Then ITune blocked and began repeating the last two notes of a sonata without stoppin.
I closed Todoist, clicking on "x".
It was impossible to close ITune.
I trayed closing the computer, but the closing procedure blocked on an unusual display with only the word "Aflsuiten" ("Closing") in the middle of a dark-blue display.
The only possibility was to hard-close te computer wit electricity-feeding interrupting (a barbarian way, I admit),
When I started the computer, and Todoist, the above error message began appearing.
I uninstalled an re-installed Todoist: no solution.
I uninstalled Todoist, cleaned the registry with RegHunter, restarted the computer an installed Todist again, but it didn't help.
Now I don't dare to use Todoist offline any more.

Hi Umberto,

What are the changes that you made recently to your devices? Can you please try clearing the cache of the Windows app in the directory below to see if that helps?

%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Todoist\Windows\Cache

Clyde

I made no changes in the last time. One circumstance only can relate to the incident: the frivolous use of Itune while seriously working in Todoist ;-)
I forgot to say that the pc works on Win8, but I know from posts on the forum that this is not relevant.
Now I am on my office, while the problem occurs on my computer at home. Ik will try your solution as I am at home.
Thanks for your advice.

If this can be of importance:
While using Todoist I was listening to music on Itune. You know.
What I didn't say before is that I was listening this music from an external dvd driver, connected to the PV through a usb-port.

Dear David,

Trusting on your professionalism, sure you won't misuse this opportunity
damaging my system and my privacy, I am willing to allow access to the
affected pc, if you think it can help.
If you think it can help, do you have any software for remote access you
trust and I can install in my pc for your study of the case?

Umberto,

Thank you for your offer, but we never do this. We have a lot of information about this issue already and we hope we can find a developer who can finally fix it as the main delays are unfortunately caused by the troubles we have in finding a reliable .NET developer :-(

- Try into shared system files
- Try into .dll files

Based on an 'internal error' of another software (not yet solved) I think the origin of the problem may be found outside Todoist.

I was just in the middle of an AMD video card driver update when my computer unexpectedly crashed. Had to roll back the driver to get the video card working again and am now experiencing this problem with todoist.

Have tried unistalling and reinstalling with no luck, but the Outlook plugin continues to work.
