I've changed my timezone in Settings, but no change is registering. What do I do to change it?

RG

I've tried multiple times to update my time zone to reflect Pacific time, but it still shows on China time. Please help me remedy this asap.

Hi Ruth,

Please make sure all locations are the same, website settings, desktop, mobile are exactly the same.

Thanks,
Brendon.

Hi Brendon,

Hm, I tried that, but the date is still registering as Tuesday, Dec 17. I was previously using a VPN in China if that makes a difference...

Ruth,

VPN should not matter unless you are still using it? And please confirm, you went to Todoist.com, top right corner, Settings. You made sure those are on the correct timezone, the desktop system is also the same as Todoist, and any other devices being used with Todoist?

The only other reason this should happen is if you are actually still on the China time. Please try logging out of all locations, clear the cache for your browser, and log back into it.

Regards,
Brendon.

No, the VPN is not still on. And yes, I went to the top right corner in Settings to make changes to the timezone on my Macbook Pro, Nexus tablet and iPhone. I also made sure that all my devices are also on California time. I've logged out of all three locations, cleared the cache, logged back in, and i'm still being told that today is Tuesday, Dec 17, when it is 8pm on Monday.

Hello Ruth,

Based on the information we see in this section here next to your post is that your account is set to US/Pacific. That said, the only ways for the time or date to be not displayed correctly are:
- Old browser cache or Todoist's offline data (which may not be cleared when clearing the cache in general)
- Incorrect time or time zone zone on the device you're using Todoist on
- Tasks being added while you've been in a different time zone without adjusting the zone as you've done it.

Considering the third option - as you were using the Chinese VPN (or were in China), did you adjust your time zone in Todoist at that time? If not - all tasks added or edited back then will indeed keep an incorrect time.

Best regards,
David

Most of the tasks were added when I was using my VPN set to Los Angeles (but while I was in China). My time zone was set to Asia at the time. However, for all those tasks, after I returned to California, I marked them all "Do it Today." The problem is that even the new tasks that I add after changing the time zone is still being set on China time. Is there anyway that you can fix this manually?

Ruth,

So right now, you can create a new task, set it to "today at 2pm" and see a completely different date and time?

Have you tried to select a similar time zone, but with a different name (linked to a certain city)?

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Yes, I've created two test tasks, one for "today" and one for "today at 2pm" and they both get umbrella'd under today as Wednesday, Dec 18 instead of Tuesday Dec 17. Yes, I'ved tried to select a similar time zone - America/Los Angeles - but the results are the same. Thanks for your continued help!

Ruth,

As this is very important to identify the issue - what exact time did the "today at 2pm" task get after adding it? And also, do you see the incorrect date in multiple places, that is:
- Within a project, on the right side of the task
- After clicking on the task's name to open the edit box - on the right side in the due date field
- Within a project when the task is saved when hovering over the date field (but not clicking on it)
- In the 7 days view under the incorrect header

Please confirm if that's the case in each of these 4 places.

Best regards,
David

I apologize, I misspoke. the task at "today at 2pm" did show as listed as today, dec 17, but instead of 2pm, it showed as 10pm. It shows as Dec 17 at 10pm in all of those 4 places.

Ruth,

I will pass this to the developers now, but again - it would be very helpful if you could confirm or deny whether this issue persists in all of the 4 places I've mentioned earlier. These details could be very helpful.

Best regards,
David

I thought I did. I'm confirming that this issue persists in all of those 4 places mentioned above.

Hello Ruth,

Unfortunately, we can't identify this issue. We've performed some queries for your account to check if there are any errors returned reg. the dates set on your tasks, but it didn't return any errors and technically, it seems that everything is OK with your account.

The only suspicion we have that could have caused such issue is that after you've changed the time zone, you didn't restart your browser. If that's the case, this could have caused problems, but it's unlikely.

Do you still experience these issues on your account?

Best regards,
David
