TD and Gmail associations get mixed up

M

I'm seeing several TD Tasks generated within Gmail (Chrome Browser) becoming mis-associated with the original email, and tied to a non-related email. Subjects are dis-similar, so not sure what to look for. Was wondering if anyone else is seeing this?

Hello Mike,

Please clarify - you log into a Todoist account using the same Gmail account as you to to log into Gmail, link a message to a task and then the link to this message breaks?

If you could describe step-by-step how to reproduce this issue, we would greatly appreciate it.

Best regards,
David

David:

While reading an email, I select my Chrome "TD Add" button to create the task. I've noticed two of the tasks when accessed via ToDoist.com lead me two two non-related emails. Example, I clicked on "My Project" task, and it linked to an HR email...so somehow the TD task link got muffed up (Technically speaking ;-)

FYI:
I use gmail in conversation mode. Not user if related, but I have reported issues to Google, where conversations get 'intermingled (unrelated emails get associated), as the use 'subject text' to link them (according to Google guy). In this instance...the 'conversations' were OK, HR was all HR...but TD Task was created while viewing "My Project" email.

Mike,

The conversations feature could cause this. Technically, what our app does is it takes the URL of the page you're in and links to it. Each time you open a Gmail message, the URL will contain a unique ID of this particular message and that's how Todoist can link back to messages.

If in conversation mode, the URL doesn't change and won't point to one selected reply from the conversation then this can indeed cause the problem, but unfortunately there's nothing we can do about it as our app relies on seeing the correct URL (ID of the message).

Best regards,
David

I'll keep an eye on it, and switch to non-conversation as a test. will update if I come up with anything. Thanks!

David:

I have another example of this issue. Is there some data I should forward that might be helpful?
