Sync completely off
I just noticed that at least since yesterday (and probably since least a few days ago) my sync has been completely off. I added a new task a few days ago, and while it shows up in the gmail plugin and my android app, it doesn't show in either todoist.com or the chrome plugin.
I also deleted another task in the android client yesterday, and this task still shows up in todoist.com and the gmail client (but doesn't seem to have been added to the chrome plugin at all, which only have tasks from a few weeks ago).
So, to summarize:
Android phone: Has Task 1. Task 2 deleted. Both tasks have been created/deleted in android app (i.e. this is how it should be, according to my latest changes).
Todoist.com: Doesn't have Task 1. Still has Task 2.
Gmail plugin: Has task 1. Still has Task 2.
Chrome plugin: Has neither Task 1 or Task 2, but warns for "unfinished" tasks from two weeks ago.
As you can see from above. All four clients are completely out of sync with eachother.
And clearing the android data _should not_ be part of the solution, as it is the android data that is the correct one ;)
same here! - sync ist completely off
The same for me here.
We recently rolled out a huge update to our API... Which may have a bug.
Does these tasks have anything special about them? Recurring tasks, notes, reminders? Did you add them via mobile or via one of our plugins?
Do you only see this problem for a few tasks?
"[M]ay have a bug"? It's pretty much more or less broken here =)
Anyway. Nope. It's single tasks with a specified due date and due time added from the android app, which includes the standard 30 minute reminder. Task 2 was created by the app at the beginning of the week and removed yesterday. Task 1 was created a few days ago (mid week?).
One login/logout on todoist.com gave me the correct state though. But I don't know if I'd trust it to update if I added a task somewhere else...
I've added at least projects on the iPhone app which don't show up on Todoist.com. Nothing special just level 1 sub projects. Your system is starting to become so unreliable as to be unusable. The two occasions this week I've need to do stuff on .com (because I can't do them on the Mac app nor the iPhone app) I haven't been able to, this coupled with the Daylight savings bug is starting to make me think your systems just aren't robust enough.
I've come from Omnifocus which I used for 5 years and had less problems in that time than I've had in the few weeks I've been using Todoist.
Just don't rollout updates that have bugs and expect your customers to sort them out - I haven't got time I'm trying to be productive!
And you've probably gone home now so I won't get a response for far too long!
I agree with Douglas. You could at least have sent out an email telling us "We're updating sync, please logout and login again" or something. Instead of just breaking sync silently.
And I shouldn't have said that about the correct state. Adding a new task (Task 0, to keep the way with lower number = newer task =P) from android gives me the following (after a logout login on each interface)
Android: Has Task 0, Task 1 and no Task 2 (correct!)
Gmail + Chrome plugins: The same as Android (correct!)
Todoist.com: Has Task 0, and Task 2, but no Task 1 (what? wrong!)
Any fix here? My sync is all over the place...
We're very sorry for the inconvenience, please let us know, in case you still experience this issue, if logging out and back in on all platforms solves it.
It's work fine, I logged out in all platforms and login again, all tasks is OK.
Logging out and back in does update it but don't know if it fixes it. Importing from Template doesn't work immediately. Something I imported earlier eventually showed up, but stuff I just imported now doesn't.
Logging out and in seem to fix it, for now... so hopefully it'll work as intended from now on (until your next un-announced API change I guess *hint-hint*).
Same for me, nothing syncing but fixed (for now) by logging out and then back in.
We make a lot of changes daily to our systems and we usually don't announce it because most of them just work.
Sometimes errors are made and you get aware of it in a bad way :-( We are really sorry about this and we are doing everything we can to keep our service as bug free as possible.
So do we have to keep logging in and out to get it to work? Importing from template doesn't show up on .com without doing this and the number of tasks per project are missing from the project list in .com
Are all the .com features going to be integrated in to the other apps so we don't have to use the web version?
One log out and one log in should fix this permanently, we're very sorry for the inconvenience.
It might have sorted something but I've logged in and out 3 times now and importing from a template does not show on Todoist.com. It does sync to the Mac app where it does show up.
Importing was broken as well and is now fixed, will be pushed in the next update (soon).
My daily email digest is wrong this morning. There are overdue tasks that were deleted yesterday showing as overdue today (email received at 06:30 UK time.
I can confirm that the Import function is now working but the side Project bar keeps losing the number of items in each project.
If possible, please turn off email digest for a day, and then back on again. Let me know if there is still issues after.
Sync is not working for new tasks and changed tasks, just new project are synchronizing.
I already logout on all platforms (ios, chrome...), but not solve this problem.
What can I do?
I can't reproduce this issue. I've created a new task in Chrome and it appeared on iOS.
Please tell me - are you online when you add the task and have you tried to pull down the task list on iOS to force a sync?
Also, from what to what platform are you trying to sync exactly? iOS to Chrome or vice-versa?
Of course i am online! I said that my project are sync, just "the project", the tasks insiste don't!
I created tasks from my iPhone, iPad, chorme (at two differents PC), but nothing happened whit the others devices!
I clean cache at chrome, logout every where, emptied all projects and starts add new tasks but without success!
So tasks don't sync only within one project of yours?
I've just tried it again, added a new task within an existing project via iOS and saw it appear on the web in Chrome.
I have 6 project, all with 0 tasks (I emptied all)...I have just add one task each via Chrome, included INBOX, but nothing is changed in IOS.
NEW! I logged out via Chorme and coming back, surprise, my tasks disappeared!!
Unfortunately, I still can't reproduce this issue :( Whatever I try, everything syncs as if should, therefore I'll have to ask you these standard questions:
- Are you certain that you're logged into the same account on iOS as you are on Chrome?
- Does the web-app show you a red triangle in the top-right corner which would suggest that it went to offline mode and changes aren't synced?
- Aside from logging out, did you try to delete and reinstall our iOS app?
1) Absolutely, like I said, when I create a new project, the project are syncing.
2) No red triangle. Please, I said some times that new projects are syncing. I am ONLINE.
3) Yes, I reinstall all, included todoist for chrome.
I identified the problem, I think.
I realized that all tasks without dates are syncing, so, I added tasks with recurrency date (date: every 1, every 2, every 3...every 31), and just those with days 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 aren't syncing.
I'm sorry, but based on that, I don't know why this is happening. I know I'll repeat myself and I understand that you're online, but are you behind any corporate firewalls, proxies, VPNs?
Even though you are online, it's possible that due to some issue Todoist may go to offline mode even with a working internet connection. It's very rare, but in the past, we've got a couple reports where users couldn't sync the data because the WiFi network they were in has blocked some types of web-based connections. For example - reminders for Android users couldn't go through because the network was filtering out Google's push-notifications.
Another thing you could try is to use Chrome's Incognito Window (Ctrl+Shift+N) add a task through there and sync the iOS app. Let me know if this works.
I see you've replied before I sent my reply, so just to clarify - the due dates in these tasks are "every 1" etc. and not "every 1, every 2" (as one date within one task)?
No, I created 31 tasks, each with just one day.
I've just tried to add a few tasks with an "every 1" and an "every 12" date using both platforms and they still synced correctly on both.
Considering that you've narrowed down this issue to being date-related, are you using the same time zones on all platforms and devices?
Another thing you could try just to confirm is to create a new free Todoist account, try to add a couple tasks like this through it and see if they sync.
"every 1" and an "every 12" are syncing to me.
"every 13", "every 14", "every 15", "every 16", "every 17", "every 18" does not work.
I created "every 13", "every 14", "every 15", "every 16", "every 17", "every 18" via Chrome and now, these tasks gone.
This is really strange, but I can now confirm and reproduce this bug. Indeed "every 13" already doesn't work, that is - doesn't sync to our iOS app for some reason.
Again, sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your report, I'm passing it to our developers now.
I created a new free todoist and the same problem happening..
tasks with date: "every 13", "every 14", "every 15", "every 16", "every 17", "every 18" are not syncing.
Ok, now I am seeing your comment.
Thanks for being patient.
