All activities completed twice (at least!)

SK

The last couple of days I do get a lot more credit than I think I deserve... For all activities I mark as complete, they are counted at least twice in my history and in my Karma score. Yesterday was extreme, I marked 4 activites as complete, but in my history they are repeated over and over, summing up to 18 actitvities completed! It seems like completing from my iPhone makes matters worse, as those activities are have more duplicates than those that are completed from the standalone app on my mac.

What is wrong?

Hello Steinar,

There was a server outage yesterday followed by some sync issues. All has been fixed now, but this might have caused some duplicate syncing. We're sorry for the inconvenience, if this issue continues to persists today and tomorrow, please let us know.

Best regards,
David

David, I beg to differ. This is definitely not a "server outage" issue but something more sinister that has been introduced fairly recently.

I have seen duplicates from any platform including mobile clients, but they are especially prevalent coming from browser-based Todoist or Windows or Mac OS X clients. Sometimes I get as many as 4-5 duplicates per a single complete task, and right now no less than 10-15% of tasks completed throughout a day display this behavior!

I can no longer trust the complete task count and have to go and verify it manually several times a day which pretty much defeats the purpose of Karma score and all the productivity counters.

Hello Nick,

We're managed to recreate such circumstance when accessing Todoist offline, performing task completions, closing Todoist, then accessing it later offline.

We're looking into this now and hope to have it fixed very soon, Sorry for the inconvenience.

Best regards,
David

David, I don't think this has anything to do with being offline. The applications in question -- browser-based and Windows and OS X clients -- are constantly connected. Unless there is some HTML5 WebSockets magic going on and that gets disconnected and has to be reconnected, I don't see any possibility for "offline sync". Also, I haven't been closing any of the clients.

What I did notice is that very often when the duplicates occur there is a lag in the sync: the sync does happen eventually but is hardly instantaneous, the little wheel spinning for a good 3-5 sec.

Nick,

We're currently only able to reproduce this issue under these circumstances and we believe they're related to any case of duplication of task completion.

Best regards,
David

Ok, this is getting worse by the minute...

I have nearly half of my tasks duplicated for today, and -- after changes to Todoist in the middle of the day -- I can no longer remove any of the duplicates. The issue persists both for in-browser and Windows apps. Even things that haven't been shown as dups a few hours ago now have them...

Please, please... Todoist is getting more and more unusable by the minute!

Nick,

We are still working on this, for now please try logging out, clearing the cache for all browsers/apps and then log back in to see if any change happens.

Sorry for the trouble.

Regards,
Brendon.

I just saw this happening again now. Completed an item on my iPhone during lunch and when I returned to my desk, my history diplays it as twice completed.
